Doug Gaffka
Title: Design Director, Living Legends Vehicles
Doug Gaffka is Ford's design director of Living Legends vehicles, with responsibility for the design of Thunderbird, Mustang and future vehicles. He was named to this position in April 2001.
Previously, Gaffka was the chief designer for the all-new 2002 Thunderbird and 1999 Mustang.
Gaffka joined Ford Motor Company in 1978 on the Product Design Staff for International and Special Vehicles, and subsequently held various positions as a designer for Car Product Development, North American Design.
Upon his return from a year-long assignment in Ford of Australia design, Gaffka was named design manager for Large Car Exterior Design in 1988. He also worked at Ford of Germany, focusing on small and medium car exterior design.
He became design executive of Mid-Size Car Design in late 1993, and held that position until being appointed Chief Designer for Taurus and Sable in October 1994.
Gaffka received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Industrial Design from the Center for Creative Studies in 1978.
