  • PT Ford Motor Indonesia opened its second Superstore located outside Jakarta — Ford Medan Superstore
  • Ford Medan Superstore was established to provide services to consumers in the northern region of Sumatra

Medan, August 31, 2003 – PT Ford Motor Indonesia today officially opened the second dealership located outside Jakarta — Ford Medan Superstore to complement the presence seven outlets already operating throughout Indonesia.

Ford is demonstrating its commitment to growing the automotive industry in Indonesia with the opening of the Ford Medan Superstore. Ford expects that Medan, the third largest city in Indonesia, which has a very promising market, will become a center point of Ford’s retail and after-sales services for customers in the northern region of Sumatra.

Will Angove, President of PT Ford Motor Indonesia, commented during the opening of the Superstore, "The provision of thorough after-sales services is one of Ford’s strategies in strengthening its dealership network to meet consumer demand throughout Indonesia. Medan is an attractive and growing market, which is suitable for expansion of Ford’s dealerships and market networks. We are confident that with the existence of Ford in Medan, Ford’s position in the national automotive industry will further be strengthened."

"Our observation shows that Ford’s sales in Medan, particularly sales in the private buyer segment, is promising. Not only that, the fleet customers involved in mining, oil, agricultural and forestry industries in North Sumatra have so far contributed significantly to the sales of Ford in Medan. Therefore, we believe that our market in Medan will keep growing," added Angove.

Ford will open more Superstores in other regions, such as Balikpapan, Pekanbaru, Surabaya, Banjarmasin and Denpasar by the end of this year. This is a further sign of Ford’s expansion plan in reaching markets outside Jakarta.

Similar to other Ford Superstores, the Ford Medan Supertore continues to place Ford at the forefront of modern automotive retailing in Indonesia as it has been built to Ford’s Brand@Retail global standards. All Ford Superstores share a consistent showroom layout, use of color and signage and Indonesia is the first country in the world to achieve the Ford Brand@Retail standards throughout all its dealerships. Every Ford Superstore is fitted with children’s play areas, coffee bars, comfortable seating and the latest interactive merchandise displays.

Ford Medan Superstore offers all customers an interactive servicing experience aimed at keeping the customer fully informed and at ease when their vehicles are due for service or repair. When the customer arrives with their vehicle, a qualified Service Advisor will put it on a hoist. The Customer and Service Advisor will then inspect the vehicle together, allowing the customer to see and understand whatever service and maintenance work is being recommended for their vehicle.

In addition, Ford dealers are able to offer a flexible and competitive range of finance options that will suit any customer. The service is offered through Ford Credit, a company that specializes in automotive financing. Ford Credit, the world’s largest automotive financer is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company.
