Take a Test Drive, Support Charity
Ford Motor Company [NYSE: F] is expanding its Ford Advantage Plan by donating $20 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in the name of each prospective customer who test drives a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle from April 21 to June 1, 2009. Dealers may match Ford’s individual $20 contributions in the name of each customer, with customers able to select the local Komen for the Cure Affiliate of their choice. The charity element is in addition to the plan’s current 0 percent financing on select models and payment protection for a full year.  more...

Mileage-Maximizing Techniques Give Fusion Hybrid 81.5 MPG, World Record
Using mileage-maximizing techniques such as smooth acceleration and coasting to red lights, a team of drivers were able to achieve 1,445 miles – driving continuously for 69 hours – on a single tank of gas in a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. By averaging 81.5 miles per gallon, the drivers nearly doubled the Fusion’s U.S. certified mileage and set a world record for a gasoline-powered, midsize sedan. The challenge team, which included NASCAR star Carl Edwards, high-mileage trailblazer Wayne Gerdes and several Ford engineers, raised more than $8,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in the process.  more...

Bison Crash Brings Fusion Owner Back for Another Ford
Maureen Edgerton of West Yellowstone, Mt., was driving home one night when she was unable to avoid a migrating herd of bison in the road. Her 2007 Ford Fusion was totaled, but Edgerton walked away from the crash with only scrapes and bruises – and an increased appreciation for the crash protection offered by the Fusion. She was so impressed, in fact, that she's chosen the 2010 Ford Fusion to be her next new vehicle. Kentucky Truck Plant Gets $200 Million Makeover
The Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville is getting a $200 million makeover, with a new flexible body shop and extensive employee training that will ready the plant for the production of the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. It's all part of a move by Ford toward leaner and more flexible manufacturing across its North American lineup. The Expedition and Navigator were previously produced at the Michigan Truck Plant – now Michigan Assembly Plant – which will now produce the next generation Ford Focus.  more...
