FIESTA MOVEMENT AGENT #56 PROFILE: JONATHAN NAFARRETE

IMAGES: Available at www.media.ford.com and www.flickr.com/photos/fiestamovement.

CONTEXT / BACKGROUND:

Jonathan Nafarrete is an up-and-coming photographer and Twitter expert. He specializes in fashion, lifestyle and portrait photography. When he's not out shooting or tweeting about his adventures (to tens of thousands of followers), you can find him cruising the streets of Long Beach in his Ford Fiesta (previously on his electric scooter). As part of an innovative social media initiative, 100 young trendsetters will test drive and live with a European-spec Fiesta for six months, traveling as agents on special missions, who then will relate their experiences through a variety of social media sites.

DETAILS:

Jonathan is a Twitter success story – he and the wildly popular social networking/micro-blogging service have an accomplished history together. Their relationship began in early 2008 when Twitter began to gain recognition outside of the tech industry. Intrigued by the idea of using this medium to meet new people, Jonathan created a Twitter page – and the rest is history.

At one point, before celebrities joined the Twitter craze, Jonathan was one of the top 100 Twitter users, boasting 65,000 followers. He was also the featured photographer at this year's TWTRCON conference. Fifty percent of his business leads (he's a self-taught, freelance photographer) come directly from Twitter.

It was actually through Twitter that Jonathan heard about the Fiesta Movement – some of his followers tweeted about applying. The thought of not having to drive his scooter or a 10-year-old Jetta for six months was enough to entice Jonathan to put together his own application video. To his followers' dismay, he won a Fiesta and they did not. They have since forgiven him, or so they say.

Now, Jonathan is quite content with his magenta-colored Fiesta. He says it's eye-catching, fast and reliable – everything that his scooter and Jetta were not. He's taken his Fiesta all over Southern California, including San Diego, the site of his first Fiesta Movement mission. As part of the May travel theme, he zipped his Fiesta down to Hotel Del Coronado (which has played host to many a U.S. president, celebrity and prince) and then to Walt's Wharf in Seal Beach. Thrilled with the way the Fiesta drives, Jonathan looks forward to sharing future mission adventures with his Twitter followers, who thus far have been quite supportive (if not a bit envious) of his Fiesta escapades.

QUOTES:

"My Fiesta has everything I need – and it definitely gets noticed!"

"The Fiesta Movement has a good, diverse mix of people. We're all different and I think we're all keeping it real."

– Jonathan,
Fiesta Movement agent
