"There's no 'clunkers' effect, it's a very good quality increase and again the newest products on the Ford showroom are the products helping us to increase sales and market share." :10 sec.

Ford estimates its total market share in October was more than 15 percent – higher than a year ago and higher than its share in the first nine months of 2009. Ford’s October retail share was up for the 12th time in 13 months.

"Coming around on the anniversary of a period in which the new products started to kick in and help drive our market share higher, the Ford Fusion, & the F-150, products that have been introduced in the last 12 months, and now as we move into the fourth quarter the Ford Taurus is playing a bigger role." :16 sec.

All-new Ford Taurus sales totaled 6,076, up 141 percent versus a year ago. Dealers reported retail sales nearly tripled year-ago levels.

Cut #3: |
"We're really pleased with how the Taurus sales momentum is building and in the segment it's moved up from near the bottom to near the top, in terms of sales, but more importantly is that people really like the technology and features that the new Taurus comes equipped with." :19 sec.
|
| |
According to Pipas, one of those new technologies is EcoBoost. In October, sales of EcoBoost-equipped models were twice as high as September. EcoBoost provides customers up to 20 percent improvement in fuel economy and a 15 percent reduction in emissions versus larger-displacement engines.
|
Cut #4: |
"Now on the Taurus it's available on the SHO and that model represents over 20 percent of our sales. We only planed for 15 percent. But it's also available as an option on two Lincoln products the Lincoln MKS and MKT, as well as the Ford Flex, and in total these EcoBoost models had sales that more than doubled the previous month. So each month more and more customers are choosing the EcoBoost technology and it won't be long and it'll be available next year as an I-4 engine as well, and there are several really exciting applications of that product on our vehicles as we move forward." :37 sec.

Pipas says in addition to a complete spectrum of products for customers, other major factors helped play a significant role in keeping the Ford momentum going in and outside the showrooms, referring specifically to the endorsement from a third party like Consumer Report magazine.
|
Cut #5: |
"That was a big endorsement, by a very tough critic, Consumer Reports magazine last week, and so it's the number of new products, it's the quality of the products, it's the fuel efficiency and the technology that we're building into every product, and now we find that compared with the beginning of the year, Ford products are getting considered by 20-percent more customers when they do their car shopping." :23 sec.

Ford, Lincoln and Mercury cars and crossovers posted sales increases. Overall car sales were up 11 percent versus a year ago, and crossovers were up 23 percent.
