Longest Parade Float is Ruff and (Built Ford) Tough

How do you power “The World’s Longest and Heaviest Parade Float,” according to the Guinness Book of World Records? With a mighty Ford Motor Company 6.8-liter 10-cylinder gas engine. Natural Balance Pet Foods turned to Ford to propel its massive 116-foot, 50-ton Surf’s Up! float that will debut on national television on Jan. 2 in a famous parade in Pasadena, Calif. Starring Tillman the surfing bulldog and his athletic canine friends, this will be the fourth straight year Tillman has shown off his skills in the parade. The heavy float is driven by the same Built Ford Tough 6.8-liter V10 gasoline engine that powers Ford’s best-selling F-Series Super Duty chassis cab work trucks, E-Series vans and the new 2012 Ford F-650 medium duty truck. The engine is paired with a fuel-efficient Ford six-speed automatic transmission. Graphic Hi  Lo | Release
