Ford China Sells 30,000 Vehicles in January

SHANGHAI, China, 8 February 2012 – Due to reduced inventory levels and a shorter January sales month due to the Chinese Spring Festival holiday, Ford China maintained steady sales in January with 30,976 wholesale vehicles sold compared to 53,340 wholesale vehicles last year.

Ford China ended 2011 with strong sales which depleted inventories prior to January. Ford China sold 519,390 wholesale vehicles in 2011, a 7 percent increase from 2010, and nearly 50,000 vehicles in December, 2011.

As part of its aggressive expansion in China and in order to increase capacity to meet demand, Ford and its joint venture Changan Ford Mazda Automotive Ltd. (CFMA) are opening a new assembly plant in Chongqing in the first quarter. The new facility will build the all-new Ford Focus which has achieved record sales internationally.
