27% Sales Increase Helps Drive Ford Canada to #1
OAKVILLE, Ont., June 1, 2012 – Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited is the top-selling automaker in Canada for the month of May and year-to-date with strong performances across the entire lineup. Significant demand for fuel efficient vehicles drove Ford car sales up 31 per cent in May with increases from Ford Fiesta, Focus, Mustang, Fusion and Taurus.
“Consumers continue to look to Ford for quality cars with great fuel economy,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. “From the fun Fiesta and Focus to the sporty Mustang and the spacious Fusion and Taurus, we have an outstanding car to suit every Canadian.”
Full-sized pickups saw a 46 per cent increase, powered by F-150 with a 52 per cent jump.
Also driving strong sales results is Explorer which saw a sales increase of 27 per cent. In addition, crossovers have seen an increase of 91 per cent led by Canadian-built Edge and Flex.
Positive results from the Lincoln lineup including MKS, MKX and Navigator also helped to boost overall sales in May.
“May was a good growth month for Ford of Canada, with strong sales across the entire lineup of cars, utilities and trucks,” said Craig. “We continue to offer our customers the power of choice, allowing them to choose from a wide range of fuel-efficient vehicles that meet their needs.”
