F-150 top-selling vehicle in Canada
OAKVILLE, Ont., January 3, 2013 –Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited finished the year as the best-selling manufacturer in the industry for the third consecutive year. The F-Series made history in 2012 selling more than 100,000 units; first time an automaker has sold that many trucks in a single year. It also held its title as Canada’s top selling truck for the 47th year in a row. The popular F-150, Canada’s top selling vehicle for the third consecutive year, was powered by the fuel sipping V6 EcoBoost engine selling more than 32,000 units (41%).
“We are humbled by the ongoing support and loyalty of our customers that allow us to continue as Canada’s top-selling manufacturer,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO at Ford of Canada. "Full-sized trucks have experienced a record-breaking year, and the F-Series has remained the leader of the pack.”
In 2012, SUVs and CUVs had strong sales, driven by Ford Edge, Flex, Explorer and Expedition with increases of 21 percent, 14 per cent, 11 per cent and 12 per cent, respectively.
Ford sales were number one in December, as car sales increased 4 per cent, driven by strong Fusion sales, which saw a 33 per cent rise. Mustang sales rose 18 per cent, Taurus sales were up 9 per cent and Transit Connect sales grew 24 per cent.
"We are optimistic as the Canadian industry continues to grow,” said Craig. "Ford has invested heavily in fuel-efficient gas engines, hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicle technology, so our customers are given the power of choice.”
Canadian consumers can find world-class quality and smart technology, as well as class leading fuel economy across the entire Ford line-up — resulting in the launch of the zippy 2014 1.0L Fiesta to the people moving 2014 Transit Wagon.
