Honorary Chairman Announced for 2001 Eyes on Design

Kenneth L. Way, Chairman of Lear Corporation, will serve as Honorary Chairman for Eyes on Design 2001

GROSSE POINTE PARK, MI., April 20, 2001 * Eyes on Design, the world's only car show to focus on the emotion and character of automotive design, today announced that Kenneth L. Way, Chairman of Lear Corporation, will serve as honorary chairman for the Eyes on Design 2001 automotive exhibit and series of events, June 15 - 17, 2001.

In addition to serving as honorary chairman of Eyes on Design 2001, Way will serve as host for the Eve of the Eyes Reception scheduled for Friday, June 15 at Lear Corporation World Headquarters in Southfield, Michigan.

Way has been Chairman of Lear Corporation since 1988 and has been affiliated with Lear and its predecessor companies for 35 years in engineering, manufacturing and general management capacities. Through Way's leadership, Lear Corporation has been a regular sponsor of Eyes on Design over the years. Funds raised through Eyes on Design are used to support the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology and its research and other programs which aid the visually impaired.

The 2001 Eyes on Design series of events runs from Friday to Sunday, June 15 - 17 and are held throughout the Detroit region. Feature events are:

Friday, June 15

What: Eve of the Eyes - An informal social event honoring the design profession and open to the general public. The event will preview the Eyes on Design exhibition featuring vehicles of the past, present and future. Special recognition will also be given to a design educator who has influenced many design professionals today. Eve of the Eyes will be held at Lear Corporation World Headquarters in Southfield, Michigan. Lear Chairman Kenneth L. Way serves as honorary chairman for Eyes on Design 2001.
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Saturday, June 16

What: Vision Honored - "Black tie" Automotive Design Banquet, honoring Giorgetto Giugiaro, chairman, ITALDESIGN-GIUGIARO, S.p.A. with the Eyes on Design 2001 Lifetime Achievement Award.
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Detroit Opera House

Sunday, June 17 (Father's Day)

What: Private Eyes Brunch - An elegant brunch for automotive professionals and the general public. Held at a private lakeside pavilion at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Location: Private lakeside pavilion at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan - Hosted by ArvinMeritor Automotive
What: Eyes on Design - A celebration of Automotive Design, featuring more than 200 of the world's finest vehicles. Judging by automotive designers will take place in 14 categories with crystal awards being presented mid-day to the owners of the "Best of" vehicles.
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (awards ceremony begins at 1 p.m.)
Location: Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.
