Biography: Steve Kenner

Steve Kenner is the Global Director of the Automotive Safety Office (ASO) at Ford Motor Company. Kenner became ASO director in August 2011. Previously he spent three years in Brazil as Engineering Director of Ford South America Operations. Now Kenner leads the automaker’s global efforts to continue and enhance Ford’s record as a safety leader.
 
As the Global Director of the ASO, Kenner coordinates with government regulatory agencies to ensure Ford’s rigorous safety testing standards and innovations will meet global legislative requirements today and well into the future. He also serves as an advisor to engineers developing new safety and driver aid technologies. This includes enhancing camera and radar technology, vehicle-to-vehicle communications and pedestrian safety with the ultimate goal of reducing the number of auto accidents.
 
The former valedictorian of his high school in Madison Heights, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, Kenner earned his undergraduate degree in engineering from Kettering University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Stanford.
 
A 30-year veteran of the auto industry, Kenner previously worked for General Motors and Chrysler before joining Ford in 2004. He resides in Auburn Hills, Michigan, with his wife of more than 28 years, Anita, and their four daughters. In his spare time, Kenner enjoys playing and watching tennis. He and his wife compete in United States Tennis Association (USTA) tournaments.
