Biography: Gary Johnson
Gary Johnson is vice president of Manufacturing Operations for Ford Asia Pacific and Africa. He is responsible for 19 manufacturing facilities in 11 markets across 11 time zones during a time of unprecedented growth for Ford in Asia Pacific.
Ford is bringing more than 50 new vehicles and powertrains to Asia Pacific and Africa by 2015, and 70 percent of Ford’s growth will come from this region in the next 10 years.
Gary is overseeing a host of new vehicle and engine launches, as well as the construction of three new assembly plants, one of them in Chongqing. Together with Ford’s partners, he also is overseeing construction of a new engine plant and transmission plant in Chongqing.
Gary has worked in manufacturing for more than 25 years in increasing levels of responsibility in various locations, and is a leader in lean manufacturing. He is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
