Ford invested billions in researching and developing new fuel-efficient products, engines, transmissions and electrified vehicles, even during the depths of the economic downturn when competitors dialed back product spending. Ford has four models with at least 40 mpg and 14 vehicle combinations with at least 30 mpg.
