COLOGNE, Germany, Dec. 19, 2012 – FC Santa Claus – and their red-suited mascot – kick off a new weekly series of short films that celebrates the unique culture of European football.
Featuring legendary icons and top professional teams, Ford’s Fascinating World of Football takes a unique look at some of the most amazing stories from the beautiful game.
These include a report from Europe’s highest pitch; meeting some of the world’s top street soccer players with Dutch legend Edgar Davids; joining Europe’s loudest crowd at Turkish club Galatasaray; wine-tasting with Italian star Andrea Pirlo at his personal vineyard; and even meeting a goat mascot in Cologne, in Germany.
Ford is the longest-standing official partner of the UEFA Champions League, having supported the tournament since its inaugural 1992-1993 season; and the stylish new Ford Tourneo Custom people mover plays a key supporting role in each of the 15 films, from taking priests to play football at the Vatican to driving a team of amputee footballers to a game in London.
The first of the clips – a video starring Finnish team FC Santa Claus – is available to watch now.
“Ford has supported European football for more than two decades, so it made perfect sense to use the sport as a focus for the launch of our new smart people mover, the Tourneo Custom,” said Usha Raghavachari, Senior Marketing Communications Manager, Ford of Europe.
On sale in European markets now, the all-new Ford Tourneo Custom is a stylish people mover which provides customers with car-like interior design and driving dynamics, smart technologies, outstanding fuel economy, and an advanced, streamlined appearance. Available in eight or nine seat configurations, Tourneo Custom offers a choice of short- and long-wheelbase versions, both of which provide generous space and comfort for people and their luggage.
