2005 Fairlane CONCEPT Safety

The Fairlane has a long list of advanced safety technologies, such as the industry-leading Safety Canopy™ rollover protection system and Ford's Personal Safety System™ with dual-deployment front air bags, energy-absorbing safety belts and load-limiting retractors and pretensioners.

SAFETY CANOPY™ ROLLOVER PROTECTION SYSTEM

The innovative Safety Canopy™ rollover protection system helps provide head and chest protection for occupants in all three rows during side impacts and rollovers. Introduced as an industry first on the 2002 Ford Explorer, this system uses a sensor to detect if a rollover is imminent and, if so, deploys the Safety Canopy™ curtain air bag. Unlike traditional air bags, the Safety Canopy™ remains inflated for up to several seconds to reduce the risk of occupant ejection.

ROLL-FOLD TECHNOLOGY

Fairlane's three-row air curtains also feature "roll-fold" technology – a Ford exclusive in people movers. If an occupant is resting his or her head against a window, the air bag is designed to slide between the glass and occupant as it fills.
