Ford Sold 79,384 Vehicles in China in February, Sales Increase Nine Percent

  • CAF passenger car February  sales reach 60,844 wholesales, up 14%;

SHANGHAI, China, 6 March, 2015 – Ford sales in China continued to grow in February, with 79,384 vehicles sold, up nine percent from 73,040 during the same period last year. In the first two months of 2015, Ford sold 191,983 vehicles, an increase of 15 percent over 167,506 sold in the first two months of 2014.

Ford's passenger car joint venture Changan Ford Automobile (CAF) sold 60,844 vehicles in February, up 14 percent from 53,272 sold during the same period last year. Year-to-date sales reached 144,069 vehicles, up 17 percent from 123,310 sold during the same period last year.

Several popular nameplates—including the Ford EcoSport, the Ford Mondeo and the Ford Escort—continued to be in high demand. Sales for the Ford EcoSport rose 34 percent in February with 6,057 vehicles sold; sales for the Ford Mondeo nameplate rose two percent with 7,944 wholesales sold; and sales for the Ford Escort continued to be strong, with 16,827 vehicles sold during the Chinese New Year month.

Ford's other investment in China Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) sold 17,221 vehicles in February, up three percent from 16,756 sold in February 2014. Sales for the year are up thirteen percent with 43,580 vehicles sold compared to 38,624 during the same period last year.

As part of Ford’s ongoing effort to deliver a connected driving experience to Chinese drivers, this week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Ford announced two new app partners for Ford AppLink in China: Xiami Music and Kaola FM. Kaola FM allows drivers to choose from nine channels, including for music, news and talk shows. The Alibaba Group’s music service application Xiami Music has tens of millions of monthly active users, and drivers will now be able to listen to local music, top hits and select playlists from the driver’s history and favorites.
