Ford China Sales in April Steady, Year-to-Date Sales up 7 Percent

  • Ford sold 96,889 vehicles in China in April; year-to-date sales reach 393,714 vehicles, up 7 percent;
  • Changan Ford Automobile sales were up 7 percent in April;
  • Jiangling Motors Corporation sales were down 10 percent in April;

SHANGHAI, China, 7 May, 2015 – Continuing its steady pace of growth, Ford sold 96,889 vehicles in China last month, pushing year-to-date sales to 393,714 vehicles, an increase of seven percent from the same period last year.

Ford sold 72,579 vehicles through its passenger car joint venture Changan Ford Automobile (CAF) in April, an increase of seven percent compared to the same period last year. Year-to-date sales for CAF reached 291,066 vehicles, up 11 percent from 2014.

Ford Kuga sales helped drive performance in April, with sales increasing 19 percent to 13,262 vehicles. With its smart technology, sleek design, leading safety, quality, and fuel efficiency, the Ford Kuga continues to be in high demand in China.

Ford's other investment in China, Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), saw sales of 23,019 vehicles in April, down 10 percent from 2014. Year-to-date sales reached 93,601 vehicles, up one percent from the same time period last year.

Demonstrating Ford’s confidence in the continued performance of the market, last month at Auto Shanghai the automaker unveiled seven new vehicles to the China market, including the new Ford Taurus. The Taurus shared the stage with three of Ford’s performance vehicles—the Ford GT, the Ford Focus RS and the Ford Focus ST—as well as the new Ford Focus, the new Ford Explorer and the new Ford Edge. The new product lineup reflects Ford’s continued commitment to bring its latest vehicles and innovations to Chinese consumers.
