Champion of the 2018 Ford UCAN Youth Innovation Competition featured on this year’s Forbes 30 Under 30 China list

SHANGHAI, China, Oct 22nd, 2019 –On Oct 17th, Forbes released this year’s Forbes 30 under 30 China list. In total, 600 leading Chinese entrepreneurs and industrial innovators from 20 sectors were included on the list. Among them, Pu Han, Champion of the 2018 Ford UCAN Youth Innovation Competition, was featured on the prestigious list for the industrial manufacturing industry. Mr. Pu, who is only 26 years old, and his team have been recognized by Forbes for the impressive benefits and social contributions created by their new “elevator operation and maintenance solution.”

In 2018, Ford Motor (China) Co., ltd. held the first Ford UCAN Youth Innovation Competition (UCAN), aiming to encourage students to leverage technology to solve future transport challenges. During the competition, Mr. Pu, a graduate student from Nanjing University of Technology, presented an elevator maintenance solution that he and his team had developed independently. The solution can monitor an elevator’s situation in real-time during its operation. When a fault occurs, the data collector installed in the control cabinet of the elevator will produce a linkage reaction and send out an alarm signal in order to detect the cause of the problem in the shortest time possible and allow for timely rescue if necessary. This solution won UCAN’s first prize for its unique technical innovation for transport safety.

Mr. Pu then founded Nanjing Zhidian Internet Technology Co., LTD. On the basis of the entry, he and his team developed the first single-platform supervision system compatible with multiple brands in China’s elevator manufacturing industry. The system features a remote real-time elevator control platform with front-end supervision capability, and even integrates into local building security systems, as well as public security systems. The unique advantages of the solution also enabled Mr. Pu’s company to complete two rounds of financing in less than a year after joining the competition. Within a year, through the follow-up coaching and continuous efforts of his team, Mr. Pu, as the founder and CEO of the company, was recognized on the Forbes 30 Under 30 China list.

This year, Ford took the second UCAN to a new level. In addition to the involvement of Ford engineers, the company has also pulled together a much wider array of support, including celebrity mentors, investors and Ford’s experts in smart mobility, to provide even more resources to the students participating. In early November, 8 outstanding innovation teams will be selected for the Ford UCAN Youth Innovation Competition, and a total of 110,000 yuan of project funding will be provided. Furthermore, more training and various resources will be provided to the selected teams to support continued improvement in the students’ innovative and creative skillsets and the sustainable development of their projects. “I have a deep affection for UCAN, and Ford offers a great platform for young entrepreneurs to get the training opportunities and resources they need,” said Mr. Pu.

As younger generations continue to fuel new technological innovations, Ford Motor, with its extensive resources and rich experience, is dedicated to finding and helping many young entrepreneurs transform their best ideas into reality. The UCAN competition not only nurtures innovative young leaders by supporting the most promising projects from outstanding entrepreneurial students, but also helps to raise greater awareness about the challenges of future transport and inspire actions to address them.
