With strong performance from passenger vehicle sales, October proved to be one of the best months yet this year for Ford in China. Sales totaled 95,185 vehicles in October, up seven percent compared to 2014, and year-to-date sales reached 884,073, steady compared to the same time last year.
Changan Ford Automobile (CAF), Ford’s passenger car joint venture, sold 74,820 vehicles in October, up 15 percent compared to 2014. CAF sold 654,919 vehicles from January to October, up one percent compared to the same time last year.
Sales of Ford’s portfolio of SUVs continue to bolster the Ford brand, with sales of the Ford Ecosport, Ford Kuga, Ford Edge and New Ford Explorer up 15 percent in October compared to October 2014 and year-to-date sales up seven percent compared to the same time in 2014. The Ford Kuga was one of the strongest sellers for Ford in October, with sales up nine percent compared to October 2014. Year-to-date sales of the Ford Kuga broke the 100,000 mark, with 109,500 vehicles sold, up three percent compared to the same time last year. The New Ford Mondeo was also a top performer for Ford this month, with sales up six percent compared to October 2014.
Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), Ford’s commercial vehicle investment, sold 19,070 vehicles in October, down 11 percent compared to 2014. JMC sold 206,360 vehicles from January to October, down three percent compared to the same time last year.
