Anthony F. Earley Jr. was elected to the Ford Motor Company board of directors in 2009. He serves on the nominating and governance committee and the sustainability and innovation committee, and as chair of the compensation committee. Mr. Earley serves as the board’s lead independent director.
Earley is the executive chairman of PG&E Corporation, as of March 2017. Beginning in 2011, he served as the chairman, chief executive officer and president of PG&E Corporation.
Previously, beginning in 2010, he was executive chairman of DTE Energy, having served as chairman and chief executive officer of the organization since 1998. Earley joined DTE Energy in 1994 as president and chief operating officer.
Prior to that, Earley served as president and chief operating officer of Long Island Lighting Company, an electric and gas utility in New York.
Earley serves on the executive committees of the Edison Electric Institute and the Nuclear Energy Institute. His commitment to the community includes memberships on the boards of United Way Bay Area, The Exploratorium in San Francisco, and the Bay Area Council.
Earley earned a Bachelor of Science in physics, a Master of Science in engineering and a law degree, all from the University of Notre Dame, where he serves on the advisory council of the College of Engineering. He served as an officer in the United States Navy nuclear submarine program, where he was qualified as a chief engineer officer.
