Ford Cologne Electrification Center
Ford is investing more than one billion dollars to upgrade its vehicle manufacturing facilities in Cologne and expanding the site to become the Ford Cologne Electrification Center. “The race for electrification in Europe is on, and the Ford Cologne Electrification Center will develop and build our future electric vehicles for customers from all over Europe”, said Stuart Rowley, President, Ford of Europe. “This investment is a commitment to Ford’s European passenger vehicle site in Germany and underlines the company’s goal of shaping an electrified future.” Starting in 2023, Ford will produce its all-new battery-electric volume product at its plant in Cologne-Niehl. The company is also investigating options to build a second all-electric vehicle in Cologne. “Our investment in expanding our Cologne plant into a center for electric mobility comes at a time when the global automotive industry is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history”, said Gunnar Herrmann, Chairman, Ford of Germany. “The successful transformation of our business over the last two years laid the foundation for us to make this future-oriented decision for Ford in Cologne.”
