COLOGNE, Germany, May 13, 2015 – Ford today announced the Fiesta – Europe’s top-selling small car* – is now available with new colours, significant styling and equipment upgrades, and a wider choice of powertrains for different variants.

Following three consecutive years as the best-selling small car in Europe, in 2012, 2013, and 2014, Fiesta was again the top-seller for the first three months of 2015, with sales of 88,155.* Ford also announced the most fuel-efficient Fiesta ever. The Fiesta ECOnetic model is now equipped with Ford’s 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine to achieve 3.2 l/100 km and 82 g/km. **

The new colours for Fiesta are Magnetic, a dark but sparkling metallic grey; Candy Red, a vibrant tinted clear-coated red; and Silver Silk, a luxurious, satin-like, metallic silver-grey. Ford also has extended the range of stylish Fiesta Red and Black Edition models to include 125 PS 1.0‑litre EcoBoost petrol and 95 PS 1.5-litre TDCi diesel versions. Previously only available with Fiesta Red and Black Edition models, the 140 PS 1.0‑litre EcoBoost engine also will now be offered with Titanium and Sport models.

Manufactured for Europe in Cologne, Germany, Fiesta has accounted for more than 17 million sales worldwide since being launched in 1976, and is available for the region in 3-door, 5-door and panel bodystyles – and as a 4-door in global markets.

“Customers now have the widest ever choice of Fiesta models that offer extensive equipment levels; excellent fuel efficiency and emissions; and eye-catching colours and style,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. “In terms of powertrain alone, we offer an extensive line-up that includes the 1.0-litre EcoBoost, the first engine ever to be named International Engine of the Year three times in a row.”

The Fiesta Trend trim level offers enhanced visibility with halogen projector headlamps and LED daytime running lamps, and improves interior quality and comfort with a leather steering wheel and handbrake. The Fiesta Titanium trim level now offers a chrome lower grille, new 16-inch alloy wheel designs, and new seat trims with fashionable ecru detailing and matching stitching for the steering wheel, gearshift gaiter, handbrake and floor mats. For some body colours, Fiesta Sport customers can specify models with a different colour roof – including Frozen White, Panther Black, Race Red or Candy Blue.

Ford has reduced CO2 emissions for the Fiesta ECOnetic by 16 g/km since the model was first introduced in 2008. The new 1.5-litre TDCi engine employs optimised combustion chamber design, and cutting-edge turbocharger and fuel injection technology alongside:

  • Auto‑Start‑Stop, which automatically shuts down the engine when the vehicle is at idle and restarts it when the driver wants to move off
  • Smart Regenerative Charging, which reduces engine wear and tear by selectively engaging the alternator and charging the battery when the vehicle is coasting and braking
  • Five‑speed transmission with optimised gearing
  • Low rolling resistance tyres
  • Enhanced body and under-body aerodynamics

Fiesta also features technology including Ford SYNC voice controlled connectivity system with Emergency Assistance, and Active City Stop.

** The declared Fuel/Energy Consumptions, CO2 emissions and electric range are measured according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EC) 692/2008 as last amended. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are specified for a vehicle variant and not for a single car. The applied standard test procedure enables comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. In addition to the fuel efficiency of a car, driving behaviour as well as other non-technical factors play a role in determining a car's fuel/energy consumption, CO2 emissions and electric range. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming
