Ford Brand Sales in Russia Up 17% in August, Driven by Strong Demand for New Models

MOSCOW, Sept. 7, 2015 – Ford Sollers today announced that its sales grew 17 per cent in August compared to the same month last year, despite the continuing overall decline in the automotive market.

In total, Ford Sollers sold more than 4,500 vehicles in August. Sales of the Ford Fiesta - available in Russia as sedan and hatchback versions – surpassed 1,000 units after sales of the model started only in July. Sales of the new Ford Mondeo – available since April – tripled vs August 2014. And sales of Ford’s SUV lineup, including EcoSport, Kuga, and Explorer, increased by 5 percent.

Earlier this year Ford Sollers launched four new models in Russia, including the all-new Mondeo, new Focus, new Fiesta and new Transit commercial vehicle. Together with the EcoSport, Kuga and Explorer, Ford Sollers produces seven vehicles in Russia covering all popular vehicle segments and has one of the freshest line-ups in the market.

Last week, the company started production at a new engine plant in Elabuga, Tartastan - the first of its kind under a foreign brand name in Russia.

A high level of local content will help to maintain business stability, in the current economic environment as well as in long term.
