Have you ever stopped to think how many different things you need to carry around in your car every day for work or fun? Ford enlisted the help of two typical families to find out
Beatrix runs her own mobile Pilates business, and together with partner Gary and their two children aged 13 and 10, takes frequent road trips back to her native Germany. Factor in kite-surfing and space for dogs Islay and Banksy and that’s a lot of stuff. Kwame and Anuli need room for DJ equipment; space to ferry their two sports-mad children to games; trips with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents; and family hiking and swimming holidays in the countryside.
Ford provided both families with its all-new Tourneo Connect – and then asked them to lay those possessions next to the car to show just how much can be packed within its spacious interior. The result? These revealing images, shot from above, with items laid out neatly alongside.
“Most of us have squeezed children or pets into a car before, but the all-new Tourneo Connect can comfortably take so much more. From kite-surfing equipment to a full sound system, our images show that being able to pack more into your car helps you get more out of life,” said Andy Hodge, Tourneo Connect brand manager, Ford of Europe.
Tourneo Connect’s flexible cabin can seat up to seven people in three spacious rows of seats to help with family days out or last-minute lifts to school and work. The second and third row fold, flip and can be removed for more space; even the front passenger seat can fold to fit surfboards and ladders up to 3 metres long inside the vehicle, removing the hassle of a roof rack and straps.
Ford’s clever new car can also help you handle busy car parks, city traffic jams and adventurous journeys too. Tourneo Connect can find and automatically steer into and out of parking spaces for you, assist with accelerator, steering and braking in stop/start traffic and on motorways to reduce stress and fatigue, and is available with all-wheel drive for more grip on wet grass, snow and sand.
Tourneo Connect’s tech even helps if you’re new to manoeuvring a trailer or caravan; a smart new feature lets you guide the vehicle and trailer by using the door mirror adjuster instead of the steering wheel, while guidelines on the reversing camera screen help to avoid obstacles and scrapes. 2 Once parked, you won’t lose it – colour options include vibrant Boundless Blue and metallic Maple Red for a bright change from the sea of silver and grey on Europe’s roads.
The all-new Ford Tourneo Connect will be open for order in early 2022, with customer deliveries set to begin in time for summer getaways.
Quotes – Beatrix and Gary
“We travel a lot, we have children, we have dogs, we both run our own businesses – so we need a car that works for all parts of our lives.” – Gary
“I absolutely adore this colour because it reflects the sea, it reflects the beach, it’s happy, it’s the sky! It’s everything I love about life.” – Beatrix
Quotes – Kwame and Anuli
“Even though from the outside it looks like a small car, it’s actually really spacious and luxurious inside.” – Anuli
“I can do school runs in it – but then we can go on road trips around the country and take the kids on adventures. We are very active, the kids love to bike and go swimming, so being able to put everything in here and get to where we need to makes life so much easier.” – Kwame
