- Transit joins Transit Custom, Transit Connect and Transit Courier to create a full Ford Pro van line-up with the highest achievable safety recognition from Euro NCAP
- Advanced driver assistance systems now delivered as standard help boost Transit’s safety status from Gold to Platinum
- Transit achieves a 95 per cent result with maximum scores for technologies that monitor driver safety and help prevent drivers drifting in or across lanes
DUNTON, UK, Dec. 17, 2024 – The recently enhanced Ford Transit 1,2 today became the fourth commercial vehicle from Ford Pro to earn a Platinum safety award from independent vehicle safety authority Euro NCAP.
The recognition means Ford Pro now offers the highest achievable safety standard across the whole of its new-generation Transit family, following Platinum safety awards for the all-new Transit Custom 3,2 and Transit Connect 4,2 earlier this year, and Transit Courier 5,2 in 2023.
“The safety of drivers and cargo is the number one priority for businesses across Europe,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe. “Euro NCAP Platinum awards for our entire Transit line-up are the ultimate recognition of how seriously we take safety at Ford Pro.”
Transit was already among the top-performing vans when Euro NCAP first introduced its new commercial van testing initiative in 2020 – earning a Gold safety award.
Ford Pro this year submitted the latest generation of Transit for testing according to the most recent and stringent protocols after adding technologies including Pre-Collision Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking, 6 Lane Keeping Alert & Aid, 6,7 and Intelligent Speed Assist 6 to the van’s comprehensive suite of standard driver assistance systems.
Equipped with technologies that can help avoid or mitigate the effects of collisions with other road users, prevent drivers drifting in or across lanes, and automatically limit vehicle speed, the enhanced Transit achieved an overall score of 95 per cent across the six evaluated categories. The result included maximum scores for Occupant Safety Monitoring and Lane Support Systems.
“The latest (2024 onwards) version of the Transit excels in all areas, and becomes the latest commercial van from Ford to gain a Platinum rating. With safety technology which is on a par with modern passenger cars, the Transit sits comfortably amongst the vans offering the highest levels of safety,” was the verdict of Euro NCAP.
The Euro NCAP Platinum safety award acknowledges the fourth generation Ford Transit from 2024 onwards.
