The Capri Collection is a limited series addition to the range and the latest model in the Ford Collection. Drawing inspiration from iconic Capri racing cars and cult-classic performance road cars from the past, Capri Collection features unique design and colour features inside and out.
Capri Standard Range 2 models receive a significant performance boost thanks to a new Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery and an enhanced electric motor, increasing driving range and delivering more torque for sports car acceleration.
New advanced driver assistance systems 3 also help keep Capri on its best behaviour, offering greater support to the driver in a variety of scenarios. Capri’s SYNC Move 6 infotainment system has also been updated with a new design theme to give greater clarity and ease of use, with expanded views of parking and navigation screens and the ability to group apps into folders to suit your preferences.
“Capri is our answer to customers asking for a versatile and capable electric family vehicle that stands out from the crowd,” said Christian Weingaertner, general manager, passenger vehicles, Ford Europe. “The Capri Collection celebrates the motorsport heritage and iconic performance car history of Capri, with the advanced technologies and convenience features of the future.”
The Capri Collection: Inspired by heritage
The Capri Collection is the latest addition to the Ford Collection – a limited series of special models combining unique design with an enhanced specification. Drawing on the heritage of its illustrious predecessors, both as a legend of motorsport and a series of iconic performance road cars, Capri Collection links to the past with its design and unique features.
From the outside, Capri Collection makes a bold statement of intent with its exclusive Tribute Blue paint colour, providing a visual link to historic Capri racing liveries. Athletic body styling includes deeper front and rear valances, side skirts and a rear spoiler all finished in black, while new design 21-inch alloy wheels are machine-faced and part finished in satin black to help create the most assertive Capri yet.
Inside, Capri Collection has Black Onyx as the main colour and recalls the Tribute Blue exterior colour on the lower soundbar and seatbelts. A distinctive black and blue speckle effect is used across the dashboard and centre console, while the seats feature a vertical stripe insert mirroring the exterior, another reference to Capri’s motorsport heritage.
Enhanced range and performance
With the new LFP battery, the Capri Standard Range offers up to 463 km 2 of driving range on a full charge, an increase of more than 17 per cent, giving drivers more freedom to travel longer distances between charges. The use of LFP batteries also offers the benefit of using fewer high-demand raw materials compared to traditional battery chemistries.
The Capri Standard Range benefits from an enhanced electric motor, increasing power to 140 kW (190 PS) 7 and torque to 350 Nm. 7 This improves responsiveness for the driver and allows Capri to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.0 seconds.
New technologies to help with every journey
The enhanced Capri offers an expanded range of advanced driver assistance systems that can help to make a wide variety of journeys more comfortable.
Capri’s Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control 3 already has the ability to adjust the vehicle’s speed depending on the surroundings such as speed signs, curves in the road ahead, junctions, and roundabouts. The upgraded system now adds Traffic Light Recognition, so it can automatically slow or stop the vehicle if it detects a red or amber light ahead.
New Reversing Assist 3 is designed to support drivers in taxing scenarios such as travelling along a narrow lane. It automatically records the vehicle’s path up to a distance of 50 metres and controls the steering during a reversing manoeuvre, meaning drivers only need to operate braking and acceleration while watching the road behind.
New Trained Park Assist 3 is another technology that can support the driver during anxiety-inducing parking manoeuvres. By learning previously performed parking actions, the vehicle can offer to take over and can automatically take care of acceleration, braking, and steering to precisely replicate the manoeuvre and park in the desired position. The system can drive up to 50 metres while doing so and can store up to five different parking scenarios.
A further new addition is the Driver State Assist, 3 which uses the driver-facing camera and Lane Keep Assist systems to monitor the driver’s attention and driving inputs. If no steering input is detected it can tap the brakes to alert the driver.
If the system continues to detect no driver input, it can switch on the hazard warning lights, bring the vehicle to a controlled stop, unlock the doors, and call the emergency services, which could be vital in the event that the driver has suffered a medical emergency.
Capri models now also come with one-pedal drive as standard, which can make floating through city traffic even more convenient.
Pro Power Onboard to energise your experiences
New Pro Power Onboard gives Capri owners even more freedom embrace their rebellious spirit and power adventures on a whim. First introduced to some of Ford’s Pro commercial vehicles, Pro Power Onboard now turns the Capri into a mobile power source that can power up to 2.3 kW of combined accessories.
One Pro Power Onboard outlet is located is located in the boot space so precious electricals such as laptops can be charged out of sight. In addition, an optional adapter can be plugged into the vehicle’s charge port to charge electric bikes or other outdoor accessories.
Capri customers can also choose a new Travel Pack, which includes provision for a dog guard, an insert into the frunk to keep emergency items tidy, and a dedicated charge cable storage compartment.
SYNC Move Infotainment System Updates
Capri’s SYNC Move connected infotainment system has a 14.6-inch moveable screen with wireless Apple CarPlay 8 and Android Auto 8 compatibility as standard, and is now powered by new Android-based software for smoother operation.
The design theme has been refreshed for increased clarity and ease of use, with the ability to add apps to folders or combine them, so the driver can organise the most important apps however they want, just as you would with a smartphone. The layout of the navigation and parking assist screens has also been improved to make it easier to operate at a glance, with the map area, camera portal, and parking sensor displays all made larger.
The new Capri range, including the Capri Collection, is available to order from today.
