Ford Motor Company sales in Europe rose 6.4 percent in the first seven months of 2014 on the strength of newly introduced cars and commercials vehicles.

This compared to a total industry growth in sales of 6.3 percent for the first half of the year. Ford’s market share in Europe was level at 7.9 percent.

Ford Motor Company’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine – which lowers fuel consumption without sacrificing power – today was named 2014 International Engine of the Year for its drivability, performance, economy, refinement and technology.

Ford’s new 140 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost is the most powerful 1.0-litre volume production car engine ever, delivering more power on a litre-for-litre basis than the engines powering the Bugatti Veyron or Ferrari 458 Speciale supercars.

Ford Motor Company’s said sales in Europe rose 7.7 percent in the first five months of this year – outpacing the industrywide recovery – thanks to strong demand for Ford’s newest vehicles.
