FORD HELPS COMMONWEALTH GAMES DELIVER THE QUEEN’S BATON RELAY

Brentwood, Essex, 19th June 2014 – Ford, the Official Automotive Partner of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, is providing a dedicated fleet of vehicles to support the Glasgow 2014 Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) during the final leg of its epic 120,000 mile, 248-day international journey.

To mark Ford’s support of the QBR in Scotland, an exclusive livery was created for the vehicle fleet. Since announcing sponsorship, Ford has been working closely with Glasgow 2014 to prepare and deliver more than 1,100 low-CO2 vehicles to be used throughout the Games.

In addition to supporting the Games with vehicles, Ford is delighted that its own employees have been able to take part in the Queen’s Baton Relay, as Official batonbearers, at various locations across Scotland. Stewart Cassidy, an engineer at Ford’s Dunton Technical Centre, Essex, took part in the Relay at Midlothian: “I’m delighted to be involved in the QBR in the build up to the Commonwealth Games, especially with it being held in the UK, and I hope it will inspire a generation to get involved in sport. It’s great to see Ford behind this event, and I can’t wait to see our fantastic range of products on display.”

As the Opening Ceremony on July 23 draws closer, Ford is also launching the #PlayYourPart campaign to encourage supporters of the Home Nations to support their teams and athletes to help make the Games a success. The #PlayYourPart campaign will challenge consumers to participate, interact and show their support through Social Media during the Games build-up and throughout the event.

Ford is supporting the Games with a wide range of market-leading vehicles, including the Ford Focus, Ford C-MAX, Ford S-MAX, Ford Galaxy and Ford Tourneo. The importance of delivering a sustainable Games will be reflected by a low CO2 emissions output across the fleet..
