FORD DEMONSTRATES ITS LATEST TECHNOLOGY AT NATIONWIDE DEALERSHIP EVENT – “FORD TECH LIVE”

BRENTWOOD, Essex, UK, January 14, 2015 – Ford, together with its national dealer network, is inviting customers across the UK to test its latest technologies at a new event called Ford Tech Live.

Ford Tech Live will run from 16-18 January at participating Ford dealerships, demonstrating the latest technology-packed Ford vehicles, including the new Ford Focus and the all-new Ford Mondeo. These technologies will be demonstrated on vehicles inside Ford showrooms, with many of Ford’s 500-strong dealer network also
offering on-road demonstration drives.

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience Active Park Assist featuring Parallel and Perpendicular Parking, enabling drivers to detect suitable spaces and reverse into them hands-free, and Park-Out Assist, working in reverse, to help manoeuvre the vehicle out of a space.

The new Ford Focus features Cross Traffic Alert, which scans left to right as the driver pulls out from a space and issues a visual and audible warning if a vehicle or other hazard is detected.

Ford’s new technologies also include SYNC 2, available on the new Ford Focus and all-new Mondeo models, which enables drivers to control key in-car systems using voice-activated commands and uses a high-resolution, eight-inch colour touch screen. Dealerships will also demonstrate how Ford’s MyKey system operates, a standard feature on Fiesta* and new Focus models, which enables owners to programme a secondary key to limit the vehicle’s top speed and audio volume.

The all-new Ford Mondeo marks the global debut of Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, designed to help reduce the severity of accidents, or even avoid an accident altogether. It’s also the first-ever volume car to be available with inflatable rear seatbelts, covering five times more body area than a standard seatbelt when inflated for extra crash protection.

The Ford Kuga illustrates customer demand for new technologies: more than half of Ford Kuga models are sold with Active Park Assist, while one third are sold with a Rear View Camera. The Ford Kuga is also available with Ford’s Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Hands-Free Tailgate, Blind Spot Information System, Active City Stop, Lane Keeping Aid and Alert, as well as High Beam, Driver Alert and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Andy Barratt, sales director, Ford of Britain, said: “Ford is pushing the boundaries of innovation and we’re proud to be at the forefront of modern technology. Ford Tech Live provides the perfect opportunity to demonstrate our latest safety, convenience, design and driving assistance technologies, and we want as many people as possible to come along and experience it for themselves.”

Ford Tech Live launches on Friday January 16, and runs throughout the weekend until Sunday January 18. For more information about Ford Tech Live, visit http://ford.to/1C6SHIa. To find your nearest participating Ford dealer, visit http://ford.to/1w9BGrX
