Ford Appoints Tim Slatter Chair, Ford Motor Company Limited and Leader of its Global Bus and Van Vehicle Development

DUNTON, UK, November 15, 2021 – Ford today is taking another significant step forward as it continues to accelerate its progress toward creating a sustainable profitable business in Europe focused on its commitment to go all in on electrifying its passenger vehicle range and to substantially grow and electrify its leading commercial vehicle business.

Tim Slatter is appointed as chair, Ford Motor Company Limited, and vehicle programme director, Global Bus and Van Commercial Vehicles, effective January 1, 2022. He will be based at the Ford Britain Dunton Campus in Essex.

In his new roles, Slatter will be responsible for leading on the development and implementation on Ford’s direction and strategy in its UK operations, and for the development of Ford’s future, global light commercial vehicle portfolio.

“Tim has shown great leadership over the years and is the right person to steer our U.K. operations, home to the development of our market-leading global light commercial vehicles. He brings the drive and disruptive thinking that are key to keeping Ford the leading player in this highly dynamic segment,” said Stuart Rowley, president, Ford of Europe.

The European Ford Pro commercial vehicle business line is located at the Ford Britain Dunton Campus. Commercial vehicles are a key driver of Ford of Europe’s business strategy in Europe. Slatter will lead the charge from a development perspective, working closely with Hans Schep, general manager of the Ford Pro Commercial Vehicle business in Europe.

Slatter is currently the executive director, Product Development at Ford Motor Company China. Located in Asia since 2011, he has held a number of senior posts in the region including vice president, Product Development, at Jiangling Motors Corporation, Ford’s joint venture in China, and various leadership roles in Powertrain development and engineering.

A graduate of mechanical engineering from Coventry University’s Automotive Engineering school, Slatter joined Ford in 1998 as a powertrain engineer. Slatter is married with three children and enjoys cycling and walking.

In his new roles, Slatter replaces Kieran Cahill who was appointed chair, Ford Motor Company Limited earlier this year in addition to his position as vice president, Manufacturing, Ford of Europe and Helmut Reder, the current vehicle programme director, Global Bus and Van, who is retiring after more than 30 years with Ford.

“I want to thank Helmut for his dedicated service and many significant contributions over the years and wish him and his family all the best for a happy and healthy retirement and also extend my thanks to Kieran who has done a great job as chair of Ford Motor Company Limited over recent months and will now be fully focused on driving the transformation of our European manufacturing operations, a critical part of our strategy as we go all in on electrification,” said Rowley.
