  • New Ford Mustang coupe and convertible deliver sharper, heritage-inspired design, revolutionary digital experience, plus enhanced track capability and performance
  • Immersive digital cockpit is driver-focused with customisable dual display, SYNC 4 connectivity and graphics created using Unreal Engine gaming software
  • Mustang Dark Horse is most track-ready naturally-aspirated Mustang ever, with upgraded suspension, aerodynamics and 5.0-litre V8 for race-car inspired performance from £65,585

COLOGNE, Germany, Feb. 1, 2024 – Ford today announced that the new Mustang 5.0l V8 GT 1 is now available to order in Europe from £55,585.

The newest chapter in the story of a true performance icon and the world’s best-selling sports car 2 introduces a cutting-edge digital cockpit, an advanced new V8 engine and fresh, edgier styling to captivate a new generation of Mustang fans.

The Ford Mustang celebrates 60 years of continuous production in 2024. During that time more than 10 million Mustangs have been sold, it has made thousands of appearances in film, television, music and video games, and has become the world’s most-liked vehicle on Facebook.

“New Mustang is everything that our customers expect from an undisputed automotive icon – and then some. Surprising, connected technology really complements and elevates performance enhancements that will win the hearts of a whole new generation of drivers,” said Jon Williams, general manager, Ford Blue, Europe.

Spectacular and athletic performance

The new Ford Mustang takes legendary performance to even greater heights with upgraded hardware, software and tuning – plus a new Gen IV 5.0-litre V8 engine that offers 446 PS and 540 Nm of torque. 3

The new Mustang GT features a new air induction system with a dual air intake and dual throttle body design, minimising induction losses and enabling a higher rate of air flow for increased engine output. At low engine speeds a single throttle body opens for efficiency, with the second throttle body opening in synch at higher engine speeds to maximise power. High pressure direct injection and low pressure port injection work in tandem to deliver low-rpm torque and high-rpm power.

The Gen IV 5.0-litre V8 also features a polymer-coated, forged-steel crankshaft for reduced friction and durability, with sinter-forged connecting rods for reliable high-rpm capability. New intake and exhaust camshafts operate the large diameter valves, with the Ti-VCT variable camshaft timing ensuring a broad spread of power across all engine speeds.

Up to six interactive Drive Modes optimise performance capabilities across a variety of driving scenarios: Normal, Sport, Slippery, Drag, Track 4 and a customisable setting allowing the driver to tune Mustang to their preferences. As each mode is selected, high-fidelity graphics in the digital instrument panel bring the individual functions to life.

Driving responsiveness has been enhanced by optimising suspension geometry to reduce the compliance steer effect that can contribute to understeer, while a quicker steering ratio also enhances cornering dynamics.

Rev-matching holds engine revs during manual downshifts to ensure smooth engagement of the next gear. Standard on Mustang GT, it delivers even more precision and refinement for the driver.

Mustang GT comes with a choice of Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. A standard Performance Pack includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a limited-slip differential for increased traction, Brembo brakes with 19-inch callipers and an Active Valve Exhaust that delivers adjustable engine sounds to suit the driving scenario. Optional MagneRide® active suspension monitors road conditions one thousand times per second and uses an electronically-controlled fluid to adjust damping resistance to suit.

An electronic drift brake 5 brings new technology to the race track, unlocking the rear-wheel drive drifting capability of Mustang with the visual appeal and functionality of a traditional, mechanical handbrake. The Performance Electronic Parking Brake is engineered for both novice drivers to learn and improve their drift skills and providing expert drivers with a competition-ready system.

Immersive digital experience with customisable cockpit clusters

Inside, the seventh-generation Mustang features a technologically advanced, driver-centric cockpit, seamlessly blending Mustang heritage with cutting-edge tech.

The traditional double-brow upper dashboard has made way for a flowing, glass-clad open centre stack, providing a cleaner, more engaging driver environment.

Behind a new, flat-bottomed steering wheel with a thicker rim for greater control sits a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, which can be customised to display different designs, and new, customisable, Drive Mode-dependent graphics.

This digital instrument cluster flows seamlessly into a 13.2-inch SYNC 4 6 centre stack behind the same piece of integrated glass, angled towards the driver. The ergonomic positioning of these screens provides clear visual information and easy-to-reach controls, which together create an immersive digital experience.

Mustang’s fully customisable cockpit clusters and interior lighting start up in copper and dark colours – themes similar to those of the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV. Animated welcome lighting and Mustang-unique welcome screens greet the customer on approach to the vehicle. Cluster displays and ambient interior lighting can be tailored, while instrument clusters adapt to the Drive Mode selected.

When choosing personalised Drive Mode settings, a visualisation of the car’s setup is displayed on the centre stack using Unreal Engine 3D software, a computer gaming engine that produces real-time renderings. The vehicle settings can be adjusted by interacting with the touchscreen – swiping the graphic will rotate the car on the screen for 360-degree viewing.

A fresh interior grain pattern has been developed especially for new Mustang’s leather seats, soft-touch plastics across the instrument panel and door cards, and full leather steering wheel.

New Mustang benefits from steering wheel colour accent stitching and a unique upholstery perforation pattern across the centre console, complemented by colour-coordinated, asymmetric accent striping on the seatbelts.

Replacing physical controls for features including climate control with soft buttons on the touchscreen has freed-up additional centre console space for personal items and a wireless smartphone charging pad.

Ford’s latest SYNC 4 6 system can also integrate smartphones cable-free using wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 7 For track driving enthusiasts, overhead USB ports for track cameras or data-logging devices are conveniently placed to prevent cables from draping across the cockpit.

A standard B&O sound system provides crisp audio through 12 speakers and a subwoofer, with speaker placement and calibration designed specifically for Mustang and a dedicated control menu within the SYNC 4 6 system.

The new Mustang is also compatible with Ford Software Updates to wirelessly improve the vehicle over time.

Sharp, head-turning design with timeless Mustang cues

New Mustang blends modern chiselled looks and heritage-inspired design cues to create an unmistakable presence and appeal to more sports car customers than ever before.

The low, horizontal brow across the front of the signature three-section bonnet aligns with new LED headlamps to create a more impactful front-end, influenced by the original 1960s design and optimised for pedestrian protection.

For the first time, each model in the all-new Mustang line up carries its own unique front end. Mustang GT features larger grille openings, engineered to allow increased airflow, reflecting the model’s power and performance. Aerodynamics are optimised further with the addition of new bonnet vents and redesigned front splitter.

The sleek roofline, broad sprinting stance and shortened rear overhang are also true to the authentic proportions of the first-generation model, while the widened rear haunches provide muscle over the wheels in true Mustang style.

At the rear, an extended tail houses bold, signature tri-bar lighting and a redesigned diffuser for improved aerodynamic balance.

Mustang convertible continues its legacy of offering open-air freedom. A simple, one-touch activation with a single-handle centre latch opens and closes the fully-lined and insulated fabric roof. The compact roof design and independent rear suspension also contribute toward substantial boot space that can hold two golf bags.

A new engine cover, black tower-to-tower strut brace, redesigned badging and neater wire, fuel, and brake line routings mean the view is better than ever when the bonnet is lifted.

The new Mustang launches with 12 colour options including three new shades – eye-catching Blue Ember, Vapor Blue and Yellow Splash. Customers can also choose from black or red Brembo brake calipers both featuring the Mustang logo, plus a choice of two new 19-inch alloy wheel designs.

More safety features; more technology

Like the electric Mustang Mach-E, the seventh-generation Ford Mustang coupe and convertible are equipped with next-generation Ford driver assistance features including Speed Sign Recognition, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, 8 Lane Centring Assist, 9 Evasive Steer Assist 10 and Reverse Brake Assist. 11

Owners can stay connected with their Mustang via the FordPass 12 app, using features such as remote vehicle start and stop, 13 door locking and unlocking, scheduling a start time, locating the vehicle, and vehicle health and status checks. 14 Owners can also view important vehicle information, including fuel and oil levels, and service history.

New Mustang Dark Horse brings new levels of driving

Mustang Dark Horse is the most track-ready series production Mustang and the foundation for the Mustang brand’s motorsport campaigns.

Mustang Dark Horse features a higher output version of the all-new Gen IV V8 engine with new camshafts and unique Mustang Dark Horse tuning. The dual throttle-body intake design allows twice as much fresh air into the engine for maximum performance, delivering 453 PS and 540 Nm of torque. 3

Mustang Dark Horse comes as standard with a unique six-speed TREMEC manual transmission with a 3D-printed titanium shift ball, or Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. A flat-shift function allows the driver to manually shift gears without releasing the accelerator, allowing power to be restored to the wheels as quickly as possible.

A Performance Package is also standard, underlining the model’s track capability. Key components include auxiliary engine oil cooler, transmission oil cooler for the optional automatic transmission, a unique, lightened radiator with greater heat soak rejection plus more powerful cooling fans to improve endurance and recovery, and a rear axle cooler. A standard Torsen limited-slip differential maximises the available traction for improved acceleration and cornering balance, while the standard Performance Electronic Parking Brake 5 allows the driver to exploit the drifting capability of Mustang Dark Horse.

The Performance Package also includes unique chassis tuning, larger rear anti-roll bars and heavy-duty front dampers, Brembo six-piston front callipers with 390 mm front discs, strut tower brace, rear K‑brace, staggered fitting wheels (19 x 9-inch front and 19 x 9.5-inch rear wheels), and Pirelli P Zero PZ4 tyres. Uniquely-tuned MagneRide® active suspension comes as standard for optimised performance in road and track conditions.

Mustang Dark Horse also features visual upgrades designed to reflect its position as the most focused series production vehicle of the seventh-generation – and to increase its track capability.

At the front, a bold shadow graphic surrounds the darkened LED headlamps, which complements a unique gloss black grille with trapezoidal “nostrils” and redesigned lower front bumper with high gloss “fangs”. Lower side skirts and a fixed rear wing, unique race-inspired diffuser and darkened quad exhaust tips are also among the track-focused design cues.

Traditional Mustang badges are replaced with a new Mustang Dark Horse logo on the front wheel arches, tailgate and door sills, while a Dark Tarnish anodised version of the famous pony stays on the front. Inside, unique Mustang Dark Horse badging replaces the standard Mustang pony logo on the instrument panel and digital display screens, and each car features a unique production number badge.

Unique to Mustang Dark Horse is Blue Ember metallic paint – a cool, dark shade that emits a warm glow when it catches the light. A choice of applied or painted feature graphics for the roof and bonnet are also available in a variety of colours and styles. The optional Appearance Package includes dark Notorious Blue Brembo brake calipers with a brighter Grabber Blue logo.

Inside the race car-inspired flat-bottomed steering wheel incorporates anodised silver paddle shifters on automatic versions and places a dedicated Drive Mode button within easy reach. The steering wheel is finished with unique Indigo Blue accent stitching against a performance suede inner lining and sits in front of a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster with customisable screens and Drive Mode-dependent clusters – just like the Mustang GT.

Contrasting blue stitching across the door panels and seats, gear shift gaiter and centre console lifts the ambience of the cabin, enhanced further by unique blue seatbelts. The Mustang Dark Horse Appearance Pack adds Deep Indigo Blue seats with a unique seat perforation that emits further hints of blue below the surface.

Interior trim, bezels and vents are finished in Black Alley – a dark metallic gloss replacing the familiar bright silver shades of other Mustang trim levels. At the centre of the Mustang Dark Horse cockpit on cars fitted with the six-speed TREMEC manual transmission is an anodised blue titanium gear shifter, cored-out to limit heat retention.

Mustang Dark Horse also comes with a B&O sound system, providing crisp audio through 12 speakers and a subwoofer.

New Mustang and Mustang Dark Horse are now available to order in Europe from £55,585.
