Boxing Clever: Ford Teams Up with Unboxing Superstar to Launch All-New KA+ Small Car in Innovative Unboxing Video

Ford is thinking outside the box for the launch of the all-new Ford KA+ value small car.

The company has joined forces with unboxing star Lewis Hilsenteger and actress Joanna Page from the BAFTA award-winning BBC comedy “Gavin & Stacey” to unveil the spacious, fuel-efficient and fun KA+ in a video that supersizes the craze for unboxing videos.

A 4.2-metre box and hundreds of metres of air-cushion packaging were needed to deliver Lewis’ biggest ever – and Joanna’s first ever – unboxing video experience.

“This is the biggest unboxing I have ever done! I was not aware of what was in the box until it was opened. I’m a huge Ford fan, and am delighted to have unboxed the KA+,” said Hilsenteger.

“There are few better feelings than peeling back the wrapping paper on a brand new present, whether the contents are a surprise or a gift from yourself. As an unboxing novice it was a great experience to work with Lewis on his biggest ever challenge,” said Page.

In the film, Lewis and Joanna unwrap and investigate the all-new KA+; getting to grips with the model’s features and the unboxing phenomenon itself in a fast-paced, light-hearted manner.

Filmed in Canada and the U.K., the KA+ unboxing film with Lewis and Joanna can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUr-4DyRhJA&feature=youtu.be

What is unboxing?
Unboxing – the unpackaging of consumer products on camera – is an increasingly popular form of product review and reveal. Unboxers deliver first impressions and reviews of products from toys to cosmetics – and technology unboxing videos are particularly popular.

Lewis Hilsenteger is one of the most popular and innovative unboxers in the world. Lewis’ Unbox Therapy YouTube channel has 4.5 million subscribers, and he has 850,000 followers on Twitter and 500,000 on Instagram.

Unbox Therapy has attracted more than 570 million views with videos that include reviewing smartphone durability by using the devices as ice-hockey pucks and the world’s first 360-degree unboxing. For Lewis – who has a background in technology – the actual content of Ford’s supersized unboxing experience was a surprise.

All-new KA+
Ford’s all-new KA+ is a 5-door hatchback that delivers outstanding interior space, fuel efficiency and fun-to-drive dynamics at an affordable price.

The stylish, well-equipped and high-quality small car offers class-leading front headroom and best-in-class legroom for rear passengers, enough luggage space for two large suitcases and 21 stowage locations for small items throughout the cabin.

KA+ technologies include a MyFord Dock in the centre of the instrument panel that enables occupants to store, mount and charge mobile devices such as phones and navigation systems, and an efficient new 1.2-litre Duratec petrol engine with 70 PS and 85 PS power outputs, CO2 emissions of 114 g/km and combined fuel consumption of 5.0 l/100 km (56.5 mpg).*

* The declared Fuel/Energy Consumptions, CO2 emissions and electric range are measured according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EC) 692/2008 as last amended. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are specified for a vehicle variant and not for a single car. The applied standard test procedure enables comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. In addition to the fuel efficiency of a car, driving behaviour as well as other non-technical factors play a role in determining a car's fuel/energy consumption, CO2 emissions and electric range. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming.
