Ford of Canada top-selling automaker in April, driven by growth in hybrid lineup, Lincoln and car

April Highlights:

  • Overall car sales were up 5 %
  • Overall SUV/CUV sales increased 4 %

Ford Motor Company of Canada, Ltd. had a record-breaking month of sales for Escape, Explorer and hybrid vehicles, helping Ford to lead the industry in sales for the month of April. It was the best month of sales ever for the Ford Fusion Hybrid and Energi, as well as the C-MAX Energi. The C-MAX Hybrid also had its best month of April on record.

Overall car sales were up five per cent in April, driven by the Ford Fiesta, Focus and Taurus, increasing 27 per cent, four per cent and 18 per cent respectively.

Lincoln had a strong month with Lincoln MKZ sales jumping 96 per cent and Lincoln MKZ Hybrid having its best month of sales ever. Unique in the luxury market, the MKZ Hybrid offers customers a premium hybrid sedan at the same base price as the non-hybrid model. Lincoln Navigator also increased 10 per cent.

Ford customers have the power to choose a vehicle that suits their fuel economy needs and we are thrilled to see that the sales of our hybrid lineup increased last month,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Ltd. “Additionally, we are pleased to see continued growth in Lincoln, and that the MKZ and MKZ Hybrid are resonating with the premium luxury buyer.”

Overall SUV/CUV sales increased four per cent in April, driven by sales of the Ford Escape and Explorer, which increased by 18 per cent and 16 per cent respectively, the best April on record for both vehicles.
