Ford records its strongest first three quarters since 1997
September Highlights:
OAKVILLE, Ont., October 1, 2014 – Ford Motor Company of Canada, Ltd. sales increased five per cent last month, its best September on record. Record sales of Escape and Explorer helped deliver the strongest first three quarters for sales since 1997 and make Ford of Canada the country’s top-selling automaker so far this year.
“As we head into the fourth quarter, 2014 is proving to be a very strong year for auto sales –the industry certainly is on track for a record-breaking year. At Ford, we are both proud and humbled to again be the top choice for Canadian vehicle buyers,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Ltd.
Ford SUV/CUV sales were up 23 per cent last month, driven by the Escape, up 26 per cent, and Explorer, up 31 per cent - the best month of September on record for both. Sales of the Flex and Edge, both built at Oakville Assembly, were up 49 per cent and six per cent respectively.
Overall truck sales were up 10 per cent in September, with sales of the Super Duty increasing 26 per cent and Transit Connect sales jumping 51 per cent. Sales of the Ford Fusion were up one per cent in September, and hybrid sales were up two per cent, driven by C-MAX sales jumping 15 per cent.
