Ford F-Series is Canada’s best-selling truck for 51 consecutive years

December Highlights:

  • Ford Edge sales increase 109%

OAKVILLE, Ont., January 4, 2017 – Ford brand reached a record-breaking year of sales making 2016 its eighth consecutive year as Canada’s top-selling automotive brand. Ford F-Series maintains its leadership as the best-selling pickup in Canada for the 51st consecutive year, as well as the best-selling vehicle in Canada for the seventh year in-a-row.  With overall vehicles sales reaching 304,618 in 2016, Ford of Canada marked its best year of sales since 1989.

“It’s been an unprecedented year of sales for the Ford brand and we are thankful for the support of our customers who have helped us achieve sales success on many levels,” said Mark Buzzell, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Ltd. “Together with our dealer partners, we enter 2017 focused on our commitment to enhancing the customer experience and look forward to continued growth in the year ahead.”

Ford also saw strength across its SUV/CUV line-up with an overall total sales increase of six per cent including Canadian-built Ford Edge which saw a sales increase of 109 per cent in December and a total year sales increase of 24 per cent. 

Lincoln closed the year with an overall sales increase of five per cent and continued its momentum with total sales growth for the third year in-a-row. With the launch of Lincoln’s flagship, the all-new 2017 Lincoln Continental, and the reveal of the Lincoln Navigator concept in 2016, Lincoln is well-positioned for the year ahead.
