Soundbites: November 2015 Sales

DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 1, 2015 – Ford Motor Company November U.S. sales totaled 187,794 vehicles, up slightly at 0.4 percent compared to a year ago.

Through November, overall Ford sales are up 5 percent versus the same period a year ago. Erich Merkle, Ford Sales Analyst explains.

Cut#1 "It was another really impressive year for the industry,  and for Ford, our sales totaled 187,794 vehicles, which was up slightly from a year ago, but what really stood out were F-Series." :13 sec

Then you would say, F-Series really stepped up its sales in the month of November?

Cut#2 "Yea, so F-Series really came out, charged forward.  Sales were up at retail 16 percent, boosting our overall sales by 10 percent.  When we combine F-Series with commercial vans which were up 59 percent, Ford had its best Truck performance in eight years." :18 sec.

Where did you see the strongest customer demand?

Cut#3 "Trucks really stole the show, so when you look at F-Series up 10 percent, then our commercial vans, things like Transit and Transit Connect, Transit was double sales of a year ago. Transit Connect was up 94 percent had its best November ever, so our trucks and vans really flew off the shelves." :20 sec.

Merkle sees this sales momentum carrying the company into a strong finish for the year.

Cut#4 "We expect to have a very nice fourth quarter, particularly when you start taking a look at the first two months of the fourth quarter,  we feel pretty optimistic as we get into December and finish out the remainder of the year." :11 sec.

Ford’s lower incentive spending and strong model series mix in November boosted average transaction prices $3,800 versus year-ago levels – the largest gain among any major automaker. Ford cars, SUVs and trucks all delivered higher transaction prices.  Merkle sees 2015 ending on a high note.

Cut#5 "Our industry guidance for the year, we’re looking at about 17.7 million vehicles,  somewhere right around 17.7 it looks like this will likely be a record year for the industry." :10 sec.
