DIRK MÜLLER: “Unbelievable, and so close to pole position. After all we got after Watkins Glen (in balance of performance), we were just not talking about it. We all just put our heads down, got to work and focused forward. That’s what it’s all about with this team – full concentration on winning races and qualifying, getting the drivers prepared, getting the mechanics prepared and I give credit to the whole Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team to give me the car to qualify p2. It was a hard-fought second. It’s first row and I’m really happy for that.”

RICHARD WESTBROOK: “We had some issues in practice. We haven’t been super happy with the balance, so we tried a few things and it was getting better and better. We felt like we were on a strategy that was good for the race, but not so good for qualifying, so we’re really encouraged with p3, taking that strategy in mind. I said before, if we could get p3, it would feel like a pole and it definitely feels like a pole. I’m really happy for all the guys.”

WHAT’S THE KEY TO THE RACE TOMORROW? “Track position, traffic management and staying out of trouble. It’s going to be hell out there. It’s a short lap and it’s 40 cars and trying to get through traffic is going to be ugly. You’re not going to be able to make it pretty, but if you can just stay out of trouble it’s going to help.”
