ICYMI: Hands-on: Ford debuts new in-car digital platform with dual-screen Apple Maps via CarPlay

I started giggling as I was charging the other day at this interesting intersection of a physical product with user experience. - My vehicle can be locked or unlocked and the trunk can be opened or closed from the touch screen, but the frunk can only be opened from the touchscreen. - The lock icon reflects the current status, so in this case the car is unlocked. Touching the unlocked icon will lock the car, and the icon will change to a closed lock. Makes sense. - However, the trunk copy shows what can happen instead of the current status. If I touch "Trunk Open" it will open the trunk, animate the trunk opening, show an open trunk, and the words change to "Trunk Close." - It might seem the Frunk also reflects current status, in the same style as the unlocked icon. However, if the frunk is closed it still says "open" but shows a closed frunk. - That's 3 controls all labeled differently so you just have to experiment and then know how it works. Don't worry, I still love my 1986 VW Vanagon. While it doesn't have nearly the acceleration or reliability of newer vehicles, it does have perfect interaction labels. Trying out Flexicar’s KIA Stonic S for my final audio assessment (review segment). My first impression was fresh exterior design and perfect dimension for city commuting. Not to mention, it has all the tech features that our generation needs such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The one thing that lets me down is the driving, it struggles at the beginning. In other words, the car doesn’t feel quick and zippy. But overall, it’s a decent car for uni students like me who proritise efficiency, practicality and value for money. #kia #kiastonic #smallsuv

I love Volkswagen cars but every time I remote start my car I cringe. Not every push notification needs 2 lines. But if you insist, never lead with a statement of success or failure. Categorize and contextualize the notification first. Also, using an exclamation point purely reminds me of how often this feature fails: about 50% of the time.
