On June 6th, Michigan Central Station will begin welcoming people back after more than three decades. What was once a symbol of Detroit’s decline will now represent its renewal and bright future. This will be a place that not only embraces our community, but also encourages visitors, the best companies and the smartest talent from around the world to join us in Detroit. I look forward to celebrating together in June!

This is outstanding! I am a small business founder in the Michigan Central/NewLab building next door to the "Train Station". I am also a retired Detroit Fire Fighter who has experienced the best, and worst, the city could offer. This campus is a marvel! I have experience with many business incubator environments and nothing, I mean nothing, matches this one. I have all of the tools and support here to innovate and solve the world's challenges. I sat in on a presentation that Mr. Ford gave to his global team some months ago. I was taken aback by his commitment to Detroit, which was absolute! His heart is, clearly, in this project. Though my part in the success of this beautiful place is small, I hope to make it impactful. Cheers Michigan Central, Newlab, Bill Ford, and everyone who has made this wonderful place a reality.

Just returning from Detroit, I can only confirm Detroit‘ turn around. Compared to 15 years ago, it’s already totally different. Entire run down streets and blocks are rebuilt and the construction activities are going on. The art and music scene experiences maybe not a revival, but it’s for sure increasing lively und vivid. On the other hand, super nice to see, that Motown is still Motown, love it! The Michigan central station is the symbol for the revival. Go on Motown.

Great transition. This is especially meaningful for us. Tina Bassett staged the last public event in the then deserted and empty grand space for the Detroit Bicentennial Commission in 1976, as a black tie event. This is especially symbolic since your uncle Henry Ford began the rebuilding of Detroit in the early 1970s with the Renaissance Center. And I am always grateful that he recruited me, than a young man willing to gamble his career on Detroit after 1967, for a national communication program for the Renaissance Center. Best decision I ever made. Detroit has had so many “left at the altar“ projects in the past that the current continuing “critical mass” is further solidified by this wonderful new Michigan Central campus and providing focus for mobility and high technology in Detroit. TY Bill Ford and Ford Motor Company Your family legacy continues to give back and improve the human condition. 😎👍💪🙏

Magestic! When young, my grandmother spoke about going to Michigan Central and how beautiful it was. She said everyone was "dressed to the nines!" while bustling through the massive halls. After its closure, she often spoke of how sad it was to drive by the dilapidated building sitting starkly dark. If only she could see it now! How it would make her heart leap! Thank you Ford family for having the vision to bring this anchor of Detroit back to her original glory!

Around 15 years ago I snuck into the Michigan Central Station. I was alone at the time. The building completely abandoned and in total disrepair. It was actually a frightening experience as I was completely unsure what I might find. After an hour or so I gathered the nerve and began exploring. What I found was arguably one of the most captivating physical spaces I have ever entered. The place was metaphysically radiant; I can remember it as if it were yesterday. I left the building completely spellbound by the experience and decided that I wanted to paint a large scale allegory modeled after Poussin’s The Triumph of David. Big, bold, baroque, high-drama with the neoclassical columns of the MCS as the backdrop to a spotlighted Rising Assembly Line Worker from the River Rouge Plant along with sieur de Cadillac, Rosa Parks, and other prominent figures from Detroit (including Henry Ford of course). I had “The Triumph of Detroit” in mind… and the reason is because The Michigan Central Station was always going to Triumph. One step in and you knew that it was going to be great again. I was never able to finish my plans, it’s one of my biggest life regrets but I’m elated to see it rising! Congratulations Ford and God Speed Detroit!

Thanks Mr Ford for bringing this piece of Detroit’s history back to life. I appreciate that the Ford family continues to invest in Detroit long after many of your peers bailed out I wish more people and cities (my own included) cared about preserving, restoring and repurposing historical and architecturally significant buildings far too many have met the wrecking ball. Looking forward to seeing this building up close, something I haven’t been able to do since being a young child

My grandmother arrived to Detroit via train from New York as a new bride from England egar to see her husband and what Detroit and the US had to offer. So excited that at 97 years young I will be able to take her inside and let her revisit a historic landmark.

Rescuing that building was a gift to Detroit from Ford. A piece of history for both.
