From the time I was a kid, I loved cars – I wanted to understand how they were put together, how they worked. For a lot of people, including myself, your car is almost like your friend. It becomes part of who you are. Ford Motor Company was where I wanted to be. I knew Ford made top-quality vehicles, but it also felt like a family organization, a place filled with a lot of people who love what they do and are good at what they do. I had to work hard to get to Ford. When I came out of college, my GPA wasn’t high enough to get an interview with Ford. When I went back to get my Masters, I made sure I had the top grades needed – and when I got out, I not only got an interview at Ford, I got the job. I’ve worked on a lot of programs during my years at Ford, from the Everest (an SUV available in the Australian market) to the Mustang Mach-E. Today I’m working on software updates that improve our vehicles and the lives of those who drive them. My team loves to surprise and excite our customers. They get an automatic update, and suddenly their vehicle works better, their screen’s interface looks nicer, or they discover a new feature. One of my favorite stories is the “knob” we have integrated into the SYNC 4 touchscreen on the Mach-E. When we decided to include it, we didn’t know what exactly we were going to do with it beyond it being the volume controller. But over time, we developed software updates that would let our customers control all kinds of things with the rotary knob, from the temperature to in-car games. It was my dream when I was a kid to work for Ford, and I’m so glad I get to be here every day and live that dream. I tell my sons: there’s nothing like putting an automobile on the road that everybody can see. If that sounds like your dream too, we are hiring! If you’re a problem solver, an inventor or are excited to take the future of software to the next level, come work for us: https://lnkd.in/gyhUcybK #WeAreFord
