Ford Pro Helps Streamline Fleet Management for Reeves Young

Reeves Young has become a successful construction business in Georgia since it started 70 years ago. Over the past decade, the company has grown its fleet and customer base exponentially as it expands outside the state.

In 2012, the company had five vehicles in its commercial fleet. Now, it has 215 and is reaching far and wide throughout the southeast.

“I think our competitors are a little bit nervous, scratching their heads wondering how we’ve done what we have in such a short time,” said Derick Burrell, general superintendent at Reeves Young.

But the key to scaling a business is no secret. As Reeves Young President Chad McLeod put it, it’s all about people, and equipping those people with the right tools and vehicles has been paramount to the company’s success.

Reliable Vehicles:
A Key to Satisfied Customers

Reeves Young knows that the right vehicles lead to high-quality work and satisfied customers. “If we didn’t put our employees in dependable, reliable vehicles that can handle the rough terrain of our job sites, we wouldn’t be able to do our jobs,” said Burrell. “Our Ford vehicles are very dependable. We wouldn’t have so many of them if we felt otherwise.”

Reeves Young collaborated with members of its local Ford Dealership to help meet the needs of its rapidly scaling business.

Reeves Young knew it needed a way to seamlessly finance and acquire reliable vehicles to sustain its growth, so it opened a Ford Pro™ FinSimple™ Commercial Line of Credit (CLOC),1 an agreed-upon level of credit that companies can use to purchase or lease vehicles, including those with upfits. With the CLOC, Reeves Young has been able to draw on the line of credit to purchase vehicles. As it pays down the principal, the credit is replenished.

Now, the company has a fleet that’s about 98% Ford vehicles—including 193 F-150® trucks.

Billing and Fleet Care

Of course, adding vehicles isn’t all it takes for a company to thrive. Billing and fleet maintenance are two potential thorns in the side of fast-growing companies. Reeves Young relies on Ford Fleet Care, a parts and services consolidated billing program, to save administrative time by making a single monthly payment, covering the entire fleet for vehicle service and part purchases.

With combined billing,2 complimentary with all Ford Pro FinSimple commercial financing and leasing products, the company can simplify monthly vehicle payments by consolidating its monthly statement.

Fleet Service and Maintenance Made Easy

Impressed with the ease of billing and financing with Ford Pro FinSimple, Reeves Young sought more ways to bring Ford Pro into the mix. At the end of 2023, the company implemented the use of  Ford Pro Telematics3 and Ford Pro Fleet Management Software4 to further streamline operations.

“Once we got the go-ahead from the big bosses, it only took a couple of weeks to get the software set up with every vehicle and to start seeing the benefits,” said William Filinuk, fleet manager at Reeves Young. “It was a pretty incredible turnaround, and the process was more or less seamless.”

“I’ve worked with a lot of fleet management software in the past, and this is easily my favorite,” Filinuk adds. “The dashboard is very user-friendly to navigate.”

Filinuk said Ford Pro Telematics3 and Fleet Management Software4 have helped tackle two major pain points for his commercial fleet. The first is insurance, which he said has been the most significant hurdle with such a large fleet. “Being able to track speed, harsh braking, and other driver behavior data and knowing who to correct has been very valuable,” he said. “It has helped us lower our insurance quite a bit.”

Before implementing Ford Pro Telematics3 and Fleet Management Software,4 Filinuk also said it was difficult to keep track of certain vehicles as they moved around job sites, which could complicate maintenance. Now, it’s “ridiculously easy.”

Instead of waiting for a driver’s call to hear that they need an oil change or other service, Filinuk can see the info ahead of time and schedule it proactively. He also shares this data with the company’s local Ford Dealership through the Ford Pro Fleet Management Software.4 This way, technicians know which vehicles need maintenance, along with when and where.

“The software makes it easy to see where the truck is and whether taking it to the dealership or bringing in Ford Mobile Service5 would be best,” Filinuk said. He also said that Mobile Service5 has been very valuable, as technicians can handle maintenance needs on job sites or after hours, limiting vehicle downtime.

Growing a successful business takes a committed team—and committed collaborators. “It’s much more than just the ability to purchase new vehicles,” said McLeod. “It’s also in the maintenance and upkeep of our entire commercial fleet through Ford Pro, whether in Georgia or as we expand throughout the southeast.”

For Reeves Young, a people-first approach paired with reliable vehicles and software to help enable employees means excellent service every time. With a recipe like that, Reeves Young isn’t likely to slow down anytime soon.
