2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 (Code Orange) and Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition

Overview

Ford Mustang Lineup Gains Five New Special Editions and Eight New Color Options For 2022 Model Year

Ford Mustang, the world’s best-selling sports car*, adds all-new special edition packages and colors for 2022, expanding personalization features and thrills for customers direct from the factory. From Mustang EcoBoost® to Shelby® GT500®, from Mustang Ice White to Stealth, there is a special edition at every performance level and price point for muscle car enthusiasts.

The exclusive Ford Performance paint color Code Orange is now available for the Mustang Shelby GT500. Code Orange joins the eight new colors for the 2022 Mustang, including Atlas Blue Metallic, Brittany Blue Metallic (available on GT500 Heritage and Coastal Limited Editions only), Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat, Dark Matter Gray Metallic, Eruption Green Metallic, Grabber Blue Metallic and Mischievous Purple Metallic.

The 2022 Mustang lineup offers a full range of models, including the EcoBoost and GT, both available in fastback and convertible, as well as the pinnacle of 5.0-liter performance, the Mach 1, and the track-ready Shelby GT500, the most powerful street-legal Ford in history and the most advanced Mustang ever on the street, track or drag strip.

A Throwback Tribute: Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition

Since the first 1967 model, the Mustang Shelby GT500 has stood for the pinnacle of Mustang performance and has continued to build on the legacy of Shelby performance. With a reputation for transforming Ford Mustang into dominant road racing machines, Carroll Shelby, American racer and entrepreneur, took his legendary Mustang GT350 model further in 1967 to craft the first-generation Shelby GT500 with a modified 428-cubic-inch V8 inspired by his team’s 1-2-3 finish at Le Mans.

Carroll Shelby called the original Shelby GT500 “the first real car I’m really proud of.” The Shelby GT500 is just as iconic today – as the most powerful and most advanced Mustang ever – as it was during its first iteration 55 years ago.

Paying homage to the original 1967 Shelby GT500, the limited run of 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition fastbacks will be finished in a classic and exclusive Brittany Blue exterior paint, inspired by the original hue, with two different exterior stripe options:

  • Painted Over-the-Top racing stripes with GT500 logo (available in Wimbledon White or Absolute Black)
  • Vinyl Over-the-Top racing stripes with unique vinyl side stripe featuring GT500 logo (available in Wimbledon White)

Designed and engineered by Ford Performance as the most powerful street-legal Ford ever built, the 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 harnesses world-class muscle and powertrain technologies to attain supercar levels of performance. Features include a first-in-class 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, race-bred control strategies and advanced drive modes.

The 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 has a starting U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $73,465, (not including $1,195 destination fee and $2,600 Gas Guzzler Tax). The Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition package is available for an additional $2,140, while the GT500 Heritage Edition package with hand-painted stripes adds $12,140 to the Shelby GT500’s U.S. MSRP.

Cool as Ice: Mustang Ice White Edition Coupe

The Mustang Ice White Edition is the first appearance package to be shared across the Mustang family on both Mustang Mach-E and Mustang coupe models.

Reminiscent of the 1993 Triple White Fox body feature Mustang, the 2022 Mustang Ice White Edition coupe gives customers the option to add even more head-turning style to the world’s best-selling sports car*. Ford made just 1,500 Triple White Fox body feature Mustangs – all convertibles. This marks the first time in 28 years Ford is offering a white-on-white Mustang and the first time ever for the coupe.

Available on Mustang EcoBoost® Premium and GT Premium fastback models, the Mustang Ice White Edition comes lacquered exclusively in Oxford White and features clear, iced-out taillamps, plus heritage-inspired 19x9-inch wheels in matching Oxford White with machine-surfaced pockets. Just like on the Ice White Edition Mustang Mach-E, the Ice White Mustang coupe comes with Oxford White pony badges and fender badging.

The black and white interior features Oxford White leather seat inserts front and rear, plus Oxford White leather door panels. An aluminum appliqué on the dash and white accent stitching on the center console, door panels, shifter boot, headrests and more add to the cool cabin environment.

The 2022 Mustang EcoBoost Premium has a starting U.S. MSRP of $32,225 and the GT Premium has a starting U.S. MSRP $40,450 (not including $1,195 destination fee). The Mustang Ice White Edition package is available for an additional $1,995.

California Special adds performance with GT Performance Package option

Since the first-generation Mustang, the California Special has represented a uniquely regionalized appearance package with special styling cues. The updated 2022 Mustang GT California Special embodies this tradition.

Based on the 2022 Mustang GT Premium fastback and convertible models, the latest California Special Appearance Package pays homage to the original version’s blacked-out grille, side racing stripes and rear fender scoop.

The heritage-inspired “GT/CS” side stripe trademark traces from the front fender to the signature rear fender scoop. A California Special badge in Ebony Black and Race Red script adorns the trunk lid, while the honeycomb grille with “GT/CS” badge provides a unique look. A larger front splitter from the GT Performance Package underscores the icon’s handling prowess.

A performance rear wing from the GT Performance Package is available for the fastback model, while spoiler delete is standard for the California Special convertible. The California Special wears unique five-spoke 19-inch painted machined wheels. Under the hood, this special edition features a signature strut tower brace with California Special badge atop its 5.0-liter V8 engine.

Interior appointments include rich black Miko® sueded-trimmed door inserts and sueded-trimmed seats with the embossed “GT/CS” logo and red contrast stitching, along with custom embroidered “GT/CS” floor mats. The instrument panel is finished in carbon hex aluminum with a signature California Special script badge on the passenger side.

As a California Special-first, the GT Performance Package is now available, enabling greater handling and driving dynamics for the most capable California Special ever.

The GT Performance Package adds an array of performance and handling features including Brembo six-piston front brake calipers, unique chassis tuning with heavy-duty front springs, larger tubular rear sway bar, overall lower ride height, K-brace, strut tower brace, front subframe V-brace, TORSEN® limited-slip differential, unique stability control and electric power steering tuning. Staggered 19x9-inch front and 19x9.5-inch rear wheels with Pirelli summer tires further the handling grip.

The California Special is available in Atlas Blue, Carbonized Gray, Cyber Orange, Dark Matter, Grabber Blue Metallic, Iconic Silver, Rapid Red, Shadow Black, Mischievous Purple and Oxford White.

The 2022 Mustang GT Premium has a starting U.S. MSRP of $40,450, (not including $1,195 destination fee) and the California Special is available for an additional $1,995. When combined with the GT Performance Package it is available for an additional $2,495.

Built for Cruising the Coast: 2022 Mustang Coastal Limited Edition

The new 2022 Mustang Coastal Limited Edition embodies the freedom the legendary Ford nameplate has always embodied, yet uniquely appointed for those who want even more style with their shoreline driving adventures.
