  • With a sleeker design, more advanced technology and even more muscle, the 2018 Mustang is the most advanced Mustang ever

DUBAI, UAE. November 5, 2017 Ford surprised hundreds of muscle car fans over the weekend when the new 2018 Mustang made a special appearance at a gathering of over 500 members of the region’s leading Mustang clubs in Dubai.

Held under the theme of #MustangLive, this event was a chance for the region’s pony car fans to celebrate more than five decades of uninterrupted muscle car dominance by the Mustang.

The 2018 Mustang made its regional debut at a press event earlier in the week where it shared the limelight with the new-for-2018 F-150 pickup, and the new generation 2018 Expedition full-sized SUV. But Ford wanted to do something special for the Mustang family to highlight their importance to the continued success of the nameplate.

“Ford has always connected emotionally with its customers through legendary nameplates such as the Mustang,” said Crystal Worthem, Marketing director of Ford Middle East and Africa. “We really wanted to do something special for the Mustang family, and the reaction to the reveal was tremendous. We’re really excited about bringing the car to the Middle East, and it’s clear from the reaction of the fans today that they are too. We can’t wait to showcase the new model to our visitors during the Dubai Motorshow next week.”

To engage its wider Mustang family with the reveal, Ford also partnered with regional YouTuber @Mo_Vlogs_ for a live coverage on its Instagram channel @FordMiddleEast where thousands of fans joined to watch the event live from around the region.

No-one suspected that the 20-foot long shipping container at the centre of the show actually housed one of the oldest Mustangs in the UAE, a 1965 convertible to help welcome the latest model to the region. Dubai-based Lebanese graffiti artist Omar Kabbani of Ashekman was brought in to decorate the container with the famous pony logo stylised in Arabic script on one side, and a street art scripted Mustang badge on the other. DJ Shef Codes helped whip up excitement before the doors of the container burst open and the classic Mustang drove out to a surprised crowd of fans.

Then, the Orange Fury coloured 2018 Mustang GT made its star appearance, roaring into view. With a sleeker design, more innovative technology and even more muscle, the 2018 Mustang certainly got the seal of approval from the crowd.

A host of improvements over the current model, including new technology and design changes, give owners ways to customise Mustang to their preferences, and even better performance from more powerful engines, delivering 460 horsepower on the GT (570 Nm torque), and 310 horsepower on the EcoBoost® turbo engine (475 Nm torque). The new 2018 Mustang also offers the new 10-speed auto transmission on all models with an upgraded manual on the GT. Mustang fans can also look forward to the new Mustang’s Quad Tip Active Valve Performance Exhaust, for mild to wild exhaust notes at their fingertips.

Customers have more ways than ever to personalise Mustang to make it their own, with new paint colours, a variety of wheel choices and its new optional 12-inch customisable digital instrument cluster which it receives from the legendary Ford GT supercar.

The 2018 Mustang will be displayed on the Ford stand in Hall 1 at the Dubai International Motor Show from 14-18 November 2017.
