Ford South Africa has funded the production of school shoes for 4 300 underprivileged children in Pretoria and Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth). The first batch of 1 010 pairs of shoes were handed over today to Ramahlale Primary School in Mamelodi, near Ford’s Silverton Assembly Plant.

In celebration of Women’s Month in August, Ford South Africa has been celebrating women who are pioneers in their respective vocations. South Africa has made considerable progress in the advocacy for gender equality in the workplace, and more specifically in the automotive industry. According to the Motor Industry Staff Association (MISA), the percentage of women in the motor industry has been steadily increasing in recent years.

Ford South Africa is gearing up for its next Esports sim-racing competition, which is set to launch on August 23. The competition, which is free to enter and open to all age groups, will be the first time that South African sim-racers will be able to represent their country and test their mettle against five European countries, all aligned to Ford’s established sim-racing division known as Team Fordzilla. South African motorists are likely to be handing over more of their hard-earned money at the fuel pumps at the end of July, according to the Automobile Association (AA) of South Africa. Mid-month data indicates that petrol is set for an increase of 87 cents a litre, diesel 58 cents and illuminating paraffin 56 cents, and the AA says it expects little respite before month-end.
