It gives us great pleasure to share the latest video from Ford South Africa’s 'Our Ford Story' video series, coinciding with Ford South Africa's centenary celebrations.
David Mashabela, a radio presenter, is a true enthusiast of Ford Mustangs and his love for these iconic cars began when he first heard the rumble of a V8 engine. Interestingly, it was his mother who introduced him to this sound when she bought a car with a V8 engine, despite not wanting to drive or knowing much about cars.
When David was finally able to afford a classic car, he set off on a mission to find the perfect Ford Mustang. His search led him to a neighbourhood in Cape Town, where he discovered his dream car. Upon finding the Mustang, he took a picture next to it and began talking to the owners, eager to learn as much as he could.
Several years later fate intervened, and David was able to purchase the very same Mustang that he had admired years before. Despite its 50-year-old age, David has meticulously maintained the car, ensuring it looks as good as new.
David's fondness for Mustangs extends to their design, particularly the lights, which are affectionately nicknamed in some communities as ‘Six Mabone’, referencing their distinctive six-light configuration.
