Halewood begins production of electric drive units for the all-electric Puma Gen-E and E-Transit Custom, the UK’s two top-selling vehicles

Ford in Europe today announced it is taking the next steps in the transformation of its business, responding to rapidly changing market conditions and a growing field of electric vehicle competitors entering the market.

Building on its commitment to grow an all-electric vehicle range, Ford has invested a further £125 million in its Halewood Plant, on Merseyside – increasing capacity by 70 per cent – plus £24 million in the supporting E:PRiME product development centre.

Continuing Ford’s accelerated transformation of its business in Europe to achieve an all-electric future, Ford of Europe has officially transferred ownership of its Romanian plant to Ford Otosan.
