Curt Magleby is currently vice president, U.S. Government Relations, Ford Motor Company. In this position, Magleby engages with policymakers on a wide range of legislative and regulatory issues and oversees Ford's federal, state and local government affairs. Magleby previously was director, U.S. State and Local Government Relations. He reports to Mitch Bainwol, chief government relations officer.
Magleby joined Ford in 1988 as a financial analyst for Ford's Electronic Division after working for Exxon Corporation as a petroleum engineer.
In 1989, Magleby began a series of international assignments with Ford starting in Chihuahua, Mexico, and moving to Penang, Malaysia, and Singapore. In Mexico, Magleby led in Manufacturing as a production superintendent, overseeing daily plant operations of more than 700 workers.
Moving to Malaysia, Magleby was part of a leadership team for an electronics joint venture involving Ford, Mazda, and Sanyo – with various assignments including financial controller and production manager. In Singapore, Magleby's role as Director of ASEAN Affairs interfaced with Ford's program teams to support supplier development and government affairs activities for Ford Operations in Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
With his experience in working with governments on automotive policies, Magleby returned to the U.S. in 1999 in the role of federal legislative affairs manager in Washington, D.C., focusing on trade, tax, and technology issues. After five years, he moved to Michigan to lead Ford's Public Policy office and assumed the role of director of State and Local Government Affairs. In his current role, Magleby is located in Washington, D.C.
Magleby holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Brigham Young University.
