Peter Fleet has served as group vice president and president, International Markets Group, Ford Motor Company, since November 1, 2018. In this role, Fleet has been responsible for leading the establishment of the company’s new international markets business unit. The unit will oversee nearly 100 established and emerging markets throughout the world including the company’s operations in Africa, ASEAN, Australia, India, Mexico, Middle East, New Zealand and South Korea. He has reported to Jim Farley, executive vice president and president, Global Markets. Fleet announced his intention to retire this year.
Fleet has held leading roles in Ford marketing, sales and service, and business operations globally for nearly 30 years. Prior to the establishment of the International Markets Group, Fleet served as group vice president and president of Asia Pacific leading all of Ford’s operations and partnerships across the region, a position he held since July 1, 2017. Under his leadership the Ford Ranger pickup reached new all-time sales records across Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia. And the locally-developed All-New Ford Territory SUV was launched in China within two years of inception and topped the Ford sales charts within two months of launch.
On December 1, 2015, Fleet was named vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Asia Pacific. At the same time, he also was elected a Ford Motor Company Officer.
Prior to his roles in Asia Pacific, Fleet served as vice president, Sales, Ford of Europe where he led Ford’s sales and market share improvements in Europe, including Ford becoming the bestselling commercial vehicle brand in Europe. At the same time, Ford dealers across Europe enjoyed improved profitability and invested in 500 new FordStores to offer customers a new and unique retail experience.
Before his assignment at Ford of Europe, he was President of Ford ASEAN, based in Bangkok, Thailand. He led the integrated operations across Ford’s South-East Asia markets during a period of unprecedented growth which saw Ford vehicle sales triple in three years and the company unveil its second state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Thailand. Fleet also served as a governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand and was elected vice president for 2012.
Fleet joined Ford of Britain as a graduate trainee in 1989. He has held a variety of positions in the British national sales company, including district manager (Scotland, Northern Ireland and Cumbria), commercial vehicles director and marketing director.
In 2004, he joined Ford of Europe serving first as commercial vehicles director for Marketing, Sales and Service, and then, in 2007 as regional director, European Sales Operations.
Fleet was born in Hertfordshire, England in 1967 and he holds a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Politics and International Relations from the University of Southampton. He is married with a son and two daughters.
