Steven Armstrong is vice president, India & South America transformation, effective March 2, 2022.
Since May 2021, he has led the evaluation of capital allocations to India, and the conclusion of restructuring Ford’s South America business, reporting to Stuart Rowley, chief transformation and quality officer. Armstrong is based in Chongqing, China.
Prior to this position, Armstrong was president, Changan Ford, responsible for leading Changan Ford’s operations, including manufacturing, marketing, selling and servicing of Ford products. Before that he was chairman, Ford of Europe, and, earlier, group vice president and president, where he transformed and led Ford’s Europe, Middle East and Africa business units. He also has served on the Ford Sollers and Ford Otosan boards of directors.
Earlier, Armstrong was vice president and chief operating officer, Ford of Europe; president, Ford South America; and president, Ford Brazil.
During his decades-long career, Armstrong has served in senior management and purchasing positions for Jaguar and Volvo in addition to Ford of Europe, and was chief operating officer of Getrag-Ford Transmissions.
A native of the United Kingdom, Armstrong has also worked in the United States, Sweden and Germany. Prior to Ford, he was chief operating officer, Volvo Cars, responsible for major quality and cost improvements and leading development of the S60 and V60 vehicle lines. He later oversaw the divestiture of Volvo Cars to Geely Automotive Holdings Ltd. Armstrong.
Armstrong holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of East London.
