Vijay Sankaran became chief software and information officer, Ford Motor Company, on Nov. 16, 2020. He reports to Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO.

Sankaran leads Ford’s Global Technology and Software Platforms group. His teams are responsible for continually enhancing Ford’s operations with data, artificial intelligence and other technologies, and helping create exciting, connected products and services that attract customers to Ford and earn and sustain their trust.

Prior to his current role, Sankaran was chief information officer at TD Ameritrade, the electronic financial trading company where he led a digital transformation. This is Sankaran’s second tour with Ford. Before TD Ameritrade, he was with the automaker for 12 years in various technology and infrastructure roles, ending as Ford IT’s chief technology officer, overseeing advanced technology, strategy, data, analytics and architecture efforts.

Sankaran holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a master’s degree from Duke University.
